Go for it. I'm not going to call for your death, or demand pictures of it be taken down off the internet. That's the whole point of free speech. One must tolerate the offensive along with what they view as benign.
I took one off a friend's computer, and the AVG boot disc (linux based) scanned everything, but it still didn't kill it all. No safe mode, but I got lucky, it was a slow loading virus, and I was able to kill it in the task manager before it could block the antivirus software, and redirect web traffic. Then the AVG was able to work. I once again made my pitch for installing linux to no avail...
This stuff only comes out when some bored researcher at the UW/WSU/OS/UC** or whatnot decides to publish another paper with some odd bit of boring earthquake trivia that excites two geologists, and an end of the world nerd in his grandparent's basement. Or more bluntly, it's slow news day stuff. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "the big one is coming" here in Olympia, I probably could retire.
You might want to try Arch Linux then. I got fed up with the half annual ritual myself, and moved to Arch. it's *not* very easy to setup, but if you follow the step by step instructions you should have a running stable system fast. And from then on : "rolling updates, baby!"
Mmmmm I'll check it out. I've used Gentoo, Kubuntu, Ubuntu, and Fedora. I loved Gentoo, but hated the install process, and wound up just going back to Fedora, and have stayed in a Red Hat induced rut.
I do that too (and have no idea why my original post went anonymous, I clearly remember not checking that box) but this Pavilion I'm using (zv6000(doesn't support USB booting, just a bit too old, but otherwise is a great net machine.
Now I begin my bi annual ritual of backing up my data, and making a new live CD (I always have the worst luck with direct download/upgrade for some reason). I still can't decide *WHY* I use Fedora over say Gentoo or Ubuntu (Ok, Gentoo is just too damned annoying to build and install). I do get tired of enabling mp3/flash/etc... in Fedora though.
That's the same logic that allows some to make excuses for Roman Polanski. That said, I enjoy Mark Twain's work, but hate the fact he was a bad father and husband. It's a moral dilemma. OTOH... I wonder how many people truly are great husbands and fathers? Perhaps that is the social norm?
Glorious! Simply Glorious! We all know that people can't think for themselves, but instead require the caring hand of government to guide them and ensure they engage in proper progressive action. We simply cannot allow people to think or act for themselves. This is a heroic day in the struggle against the fascist corporations and the evils of capitalism!
They aren't "clips" they are magazines. Clips hold rounds of ammunition for insertion into a magazine. AR-17? You mean AR-15, right, I find it highly unlikely you are familiar with the very rare AR-17 shotgun, but I could be wrong. In this context though, I doubt it.
If you are wondering how many MAGAZINES of ammo used in a handgun would be 43 rounds, 3 would be the most likely, assuming a regular 9mm handgun. Mag capacity varies depending on the gun and caliber of ammo used. If one uses a handgun based on a rifle, like an AK-47 pistol, or an AR-15 pistol, there are 75 round and larger drums available; so it's largely a question of how much gun geekery do you want to get into?
Back in "the day", roughly 12-15 years ago, I kept a rescue disc in the form of either a DR DOS or MS DOS 6.22 boot disc with various discutils loaded on there. Plenty of room on a 1.44 floppy for that. Now I just use a Linux live CD, or whatever the Evil ones From Redmond offer... Now that bootable CD's have taken the place of the floppy, and USB flash media fills the roll for quick and useful data storate; floppies are just a quaint habit to most of the world.
Because people aren't going to drop their ISP unless they know another one is there to pick up their business. Would you cancel your internet knowing there was nobody else yet to provide your connection?
Funniest thing I've read on /. in days.
Didier? Yeah I'm probably going to vote Rossi (again lol)
Like that. Or any other corporate welfare
This will spark Congress to fund useful things like space exploration. Instead of stupid things. Like oh... pick something.

Just the thing to toast the arrival of 2012 with
I want the 10 meter band to open up damnit! Personally though, I blame Bush.
in retrospect that sounds so bad...
Actually I didn't do it for free. He gave me a killer deal on two .22 handguns, and a .22 rifle for my trouble.

Exactly what I was thinking

Because my machine (Pavilion zv6000) does not support USB booting
Err I really need to have caffeine in my system *before* posting to /.

Of course they wait until Mulder and Scully retire...
Do this to politicians too, and make them finally serve a useful purpose?

Yeah, Washington is rather ahhh FUBAR. Totally in the pocket of big business.
