  1. Re:how does this lock linux out? on Microsoft's Athens PC · · Score: 1
Yeah, that's what I was thinking... it seems like the Linux community usually prides itself on being able to hack Linux to run on any hardware... But since it will make Microsoft look bad to say that this "Athens PC" will only run windows no matter what, they seem to have forgotten.

There's only a limited number of LCDs availible. The more a company buys, the cheaper they can get the panels for. Laptops sell more and are sold for more than LCD monitors. A company that sells laptops can, therefore, buy more LCDs than a company that sells LCD monitors. They can get them more cheaply, and afford to sell them more cheaply.

It's not really price-fixing proper, just basic economics.

I just heard the 76% number on MSNBC about a half hour before I posted that, and it said "approve of the war", not "agree that iraq is a threat." A search on google revealed several similar numbers: 62%, 70%, 72%, another vote for 72%, 76% (note that it says in no unclear terms that "76% approve of President Bush's decision to attack").

Perhaps you have a credible source that claims the numbers are lower?

Not a damn thing. 76% of Americans approve of the war, but the protesters want to make it seem like they are the majority rather than a (shrinking) minority.
