I've seen a million "Store 100 gigs on cheap media!" type stories on here, and they ALL scream "Vaporware!". Does anyone remember the "2 terabyte clear CD" thing? IIRC I think it was predicted that we'd all be using them by 2001. Well, I'm still using plain old CDs...
Is this just a gimmick by companies to get funding or something?
my keyboard doesn't have built in analog joysticks. This thing would be SO perfect for first person shooters- with the standard keyboard+mouse combo, you have to move your running/strafing hand to hit keys for items and stuff. With joysticks/gamepads, there's never enough buttons.
With this thing, you can move your hand quickly to slap the Holoduke key (or whatever) and then get right back to the controller to aim/run around.
For instance (just because this is the one I'm currently addicted to) MS flight sim- it's got practically the whole country modeled. Does this thing have any landscapes included, or is it just the a few places you can fly in?
What exactly does the government have to gain by "Taking away our rights" as Cmdrtaco writes? Do we really have any reason to believe that the government is trying to create a giant evil spy machine to watch their own people as opposed to the terrorists?
I tend to be more or less trusting of the government, but that's just me.
smells like a rumor to me...
I heard from a friend that in Peoria, IL; gas is $5 a gallon. Just after I heard that a friend of mine who lives in Peoria just ICQ'd me and asked how I like the $4 a gallon here. (It's still ~$1.70 here)
I think it's standard slashdot policy to ask websites before pointing the firehose at the proverbial teacup. Odds are that Lowtax knew about it.
still, it's a shame that they couldn't have just cached the story on/.- Something Awful has no advertising anyway, and Lowtax is the author; so there's really no reason why a slashdot cache couldn't have saved the forums from going down...
That goes into copyright issues, as well as a pile of stuff such as how is space.com going to pay for the bandwidth they do use when slashdot robs their content and doesn't put up the ads.
Besides,/. is slow enough when it's just serving text and a few tiny images. You might slashdot slashdot if you throw a pile of images into the mix.
You can always host your pictures on geocities and move the blame from you to them...

And when you do, you can play Super Smash Brothers.
PUNCH THE MONKEY! PUNCH the MONKEY!! PUNCH IT!!!!!!

I'm gonna be the first to say, I WANT ONE OF THESE FOR COMPUTER. Heck, you've got all the basics in one package. VERY nice.
I'd say that it looks more like you hold it on your lap rather than in the air like a normal controller.
Forget the twin towers, then... Crazed linux advocates UNITE!

What else is keeping the robots from killing all the humans with their harse metal fists?
Slashdot has always been just kinda freewheeling anything that taco thought was cool links and stuff... not a serious political debate site.
If you could somehow work Linux into the equation, 1,000,000 slashdot readers would jizz their pants simultaneously.
Wouldn't this violate the Robot's Code?
was it Erector set?
Connex? No way... it's all about the tinkertoys.
aw yeah...

Do a lot of ATC centers have computers that are hooked up to the internet?
Well, there is a monkey in the middle of that page; but it's still just your browser.
they replaced their 6 500 mhz machines with 5 gigahertz machines.

Why is it I always have mod points every time I log in to slashdot, except for today?
-------
I had to go outside.
*WEEP*
