However, thinking from a security standpoint: the more difficult it is to get to it, the more worthwhile it likely is to invest that time. If I have to start working before I even see a system post, odds are, the time just became worth it.
Ok, so this would be why I don't give conspiracy theorists hallucinogenic substances and turn them loose on keyboards with bad science fiction flicks running on different screens all around their heads... although seeing if you could produce a similar affect by doing so WOULD be both an interesting study and the first good use for conspiracy theorists. This idea was created by someone smarter than his hair care products.
Don't forget the fact that economics involves more than one interdependent factor... You can't say the current "mortgage crisis" or whatever they're calling it now is based only on greedy loan officers, or the rich, or the poor. Other factors, like the rising price of oil came in as well. It's not like bad credit and bad loans and greedy people and poor people happened overnight. The problem came when you factor in a weakening dollar and skyrocketing oil prices in. All of a sudden, the housing market is weak, because people don't want to buy a new house, banks start making risky loans, people take advantage of the available risky loans hoping it will be a short downturn and they can turn over a house that was suddenly available for way less than it originally would have been, and everything works together to make it a big issue. Plenty of blame to go around.
Exactly;) now imagine with this "thought helmet"...
FOX SEVEN NINE fucking prick... THIS IS ROMEO PAPA THREE holyshit that was LOUD damn lookit THAT...
'Because soldiers are already trained to talk in clean, clear and formulaic ways, it would be a very small step to have them think that way.'
Has this guy talked to one of us lately? Or listened to a Lieutenant on the radio? "...Clean, clear, and formulaic..." do NOT apply to our thought processes, and never will. I call shenanigans on the whole concept.
Remember. If this works, NOONE will prefer to keep their own data, their own apps and programs... everyone will ENJOY going back to the days of just using a dumb terminal. Speaking as probably one of the youngest people to have had to use a green lined plaintext terminal from a remote location back when we were moving and my dad had to keep the home computer up... I think I'll stick with having my services local. Nothing worse than not being able to play nethack because the internet wire is down...
God blessed Texas with his own hands...
Disclaimer: I'm from Texas, and I grew up with a gun in my hands, and the knowledge that ultimately, in a him or me situation, I can come out on top. I firmly believe, however, if you can de-escalate the situation without bloodshed, do so. Taking another life isn't quite as easy as people assume, and I've seen firsthand that even pure self defense will not prevent nightmares, PTSD, and all kinds of emotional issues down the road. Especially at home-defense range. To me, its only worth it to protect a life or prevent bodily harm, not just "to shewt that sum'bitch for touchin my Nascar TV."
Other Disclaimer: Professional Soldier.
misinterpretation of intended harm would be the actual problem, imho. I'm actually much more interested in knowing how they intend to solve the issue of the sudden, violent, random storms cropping up at sea screwing with what I assume would have to be satellite links with the onshore end...
Really doesn't seem like an efficient way to go about trying to be competitive in the digital content market... maybe if they were giving away software that let you do what it does, with an online store to download... oh right, ITunes, the product they're trying to compete with... I'm gonna go with this product being screwed from the get-go.
Are you kidding? I have a laptop that came bundled with the Vista virus, and courtesy of not doing my !&@! research, I didn't know about the anti-XP firmware...
I think you need to run the numbers again. Look at it like a fraction. Take 7/10, or 70%, multiply by 9/10 to find 90% of 70%. Result is 63/100. So that means that we have reduced required energy by 63% of the current usage. This means we are now at 7% of the old energy requirements. If you find 7% of 70%, you get 5% Which is the new requirement, meaning 95% efficiency. Slightly different.
Oh goody, nothing better than the knowledge that we can just instantaneously shift the entire world from the Internet to something else effectively... I get the feeling big outages will happen... what about backwards compatibility?
I bring to mind the blackberry. I also bring to mind the fact that miniaturization costs money... And the blackberry is already higher specs then the kids in India need for school. Whats the problem?
I don't deny entirely that there was real cause for some concern. I was merely making very clear exactly how much I believe in mass-overreaction. I have never seen panic as a reasonable means to solve problems, only to exacerbate them. I find it much simpler to let the people who need to deal with the problems do so, and avoid mass hysteria.
What about the comfort level of the students who prefer distance learning for the surroundings it allows? Seems it would cut down on the comfort and privacy a bit.
It was more of a general concept, things that seem apocalyptic tend to end up being fairly anticlimactic after tons of buildup, with or without extensive preparation. I just don't personally plan to freak out about something that really isn't a new issue. I cant even ARP a network I have full admin access to easily, because it's such an old problem, there are fixes out there. All I'm saying is the freakout level is nowhere near what the article implies.
Oh noes, the world is going to crash down around us!
Just saying, why overreact? If it isn't one thing, it's going to be something else, and as usual, I'm fairly sure the best solution is to grin and bear it, or to round up a digital posse and fix the little tards.
He said XP. Repair disk anyone?

Can I be cool too? I'm gonna cut a bunch of holes in the side of my beige monster. (Side note: my girl doesn't think beige PCs are ugly... Keeper)

JP8. Almost singly.
Of course they do! It said Android!! They have to make sure it follows the 3 Laws of Robotics or the phone might take over the world!!
Who has more oil? Assume we plan to invade tomorrow, regardless of whose side we're on, on grounds of them possibly using weapons they might have.
One flaw. Damnable auto-saves. Gota watch out for those stupid little buggers.
yeah screwed my terms, but the math was along the right lines, just simplified. was just tryin to make sense of the numbers more then anything ;)
Meh, you're totally right. Wording screwed up there. My math was good though ;)
