Oft companies make some pretty dumb decisions. Sure this may stop a couple of spam messages out of the probable millions.
What about their users? How comfortable will this make them when they know they are visiting a site that legally prosecutes people acting within their right?
Well they've sure taken a strong lesson with the anonymity of the web. It seems every headline I read is based on an anonymous submission, a source who detailed events under the protection of anonymity, et cetera.
Just another example that I don't deserve my nice house and cushy job. Some people are pretty desperate for the spare change that falls from American (and euro, there does that make you happy...) tables.
They worked all day for the same money I made reading this article at work.
Why can't the partygoers be responsible for their own equipment?
Also, haven't you langeeks heard of the internet? You can play with complete strangers there too, and I don't need to disconnect all my equipment, haul it down to some stinkfest and sit next to some guy that won't shut up about how awesome anime is.
Exactly. I love that they surveyed the readers of an IT website, and present the results implying all internet users, and go further to highlight social networking accounts.
Should read, "42% of IT professionals have accessed someone else's e-mail account without their knowledge."
Wow you got offbase pretty quick. A large majority of our Senators and Congressmen have multiple DUI's under their belt. Alcoholism, scandal, abuse, and other non-prissy, crocked laced themes run amid public officials life. Perhaps the problems with government officials are inherent to the fact that we DON'T elect straight-laced people, because those people are working hard all day, and happy at home with their families.
Here in Washington, the interstate speeds are set at 60 MPH (around Seattle). The police tailgate people traveling anything less than 70. Speeders are the guys going 20+ over.
[Parent comment] coupled with obvious speed limit reductions to enlarge the fine when speeders are pulled over.
I don't know what the internet is, but this pile of money has led me to the following conclusions...

I don't think this will be a revenue generator.

Not sure how we still call them news agencies.
Actual paradox: What makes game developers money isn't what makes games fun.
Game creators work so hard to stop these guys... Maybe they should realize their content sucks if people are willing to pay to skip it.

A rare victory where both the criminal loses and our rights are protected.

Waterboarding has been okay'd!
Put it next to something that kids actually throw stones at, and all of the sudden you have kids throwing their stones at your $10 sign instead.
Come on people, didn't any of you have parents? Reverse psychology is no joke, hiding it is the trick.

I checked my bandwidth on a Japanese based bandwidth testing site, and it WAS SLOWER!!!
When I use a U.S. bandwidth testing site, I'm always faster.
This article is just wrong, we are faster here in the states.
