Seems natural as putting all of your print content online for free would, as more and more people are online, likely cannibalize (sp) your paid subscriptions. I've been paying for the WSJ for a couple of years now. I've got no beef with that. This sort of business is a natural subscription business. The pay-per-byte DSL worries me a alot - I hope it never comes to that. The music part seems pre-ordained as the RIAA, et.al. seems prepared to spend whatever sum it requires to make it real. The text is unreadable, even set to a larger size. The TV picture in a window looks really clear on the TV and monitor. However, if you maximize the tv picture (when using the TV as your monitor), the resolution goes to shit and the TV picture isn't that clear. The Tivo software works good but the TV guide program doesn't seem to work with DirecTV but I haven't really tried hard yet. It was really easy to install on XP but under 98 (don't ask) it had serious issues which were probably related to the machine I was using.

  16. I remember those days on gobeProductive 3.0 - Office XP killer? · · Score: 1

and (IMHO) what *initially* killed Wordperfect in the market at large was not the lack of an office suite but the lack of a timely, stable, windows-based version. The debate back then was whether to use best-of-breed software vs. integrated suite. Most agreed that WP DOS was a superior product but they (WP) stumbled badly with their Windows release and MS took over, with Word leading the way. The first versions of WP/Win sucked - it couldn't, for example, reliably cut and past from other apps but Word could. Now, whether Microsoft's more stable product was due to usage of "hidden" features, etc. is best dealt with somewhere else.
