    Just select all the mail you've got and forward to someone who will be around - like your manager (he/she will appreciate the extra e-mail - it will make him/her feel more important) - and then have them forward all the mail to the new person.

    In the last 35 years, copyright has become less of a problem. It's easy to avoid copyright infringement with virgin developers; however, too many patent trolls would make lawsuits for patent infringement (imagined or otherwise) almost guaranteed.

    They've already tried this... that's why the meteors always hit Russia... that's where copyrighted material always ends up.

    I had the same call come to me twice. The second time I took a little more time and here's how it went: They usually ask you to open up the event viewer to show you all the "malware" on your system. After booting up my windows XP VM, he opened up a command prompt window to one of the Windows folders. Then he ran the command "attrib". at the end I got a similar the command prompt back:

    C:\Windows>Windows firewall subscription has expired.

    with the written text about the firewall being typed MUCH slower than my 8 year old son types. Eventually I told the guy he was doing all of this in a VM, and he didn't think I was as smart as I said, so he asked a couple of obscure computer questions (about msconfig and northbridge/southbridge)... I then asked him if I could ask him a question... I asked, "Will you take me off of your call list?" I tried to guilt him out of doing what he was doing, but I figured I'd wasted enough time, so I hung up. I haven't had another call since then.

    This is Japan... you need to watch out for the 4th ride:

    1. 1 = ichi
    2. 2 = ni
    3. 3 = san
    4. 4 = shi == death

    Therefore in apartment buildings the numbers are 101, 102, 103, 105, 106, ... 201, 202, 203, 205, 206...

    Of course.. they're call "Defense Contractors"... and they get all of their funding through the DoD.

    Ironically, when I started reading people's comments, my driver failed and had to be reloaded in Windows 7 for my year old NVidia card.

    Right-click somewhere in the blank area by the address bar, hit customize, then simply drag the home button to wherever you'd like it.

    On my laptop:
    • IE9 renders the dots on the world map smoother than Firefox 4, but messes up the map it's all stretched and funny looking.
    • Chrome renders the dots smoother than Firefox 4, but has semi-transparent artifacts remaining over the spiral graph image and slows down significantly when you hover over the bar graph.
    • I'd prefer to avoid Opera and Safari altogether.

    How's that for new browser standards compliance?

    I've lived south of Seattle for 30 years, and predictions like these have been coming for years and years. I've personally felt 2 earthquakes, and seen dust from Mt. Saint Helens. While this doesn't minimize the likelihood of another big earthquake, I just question the reason this is news - especially on /.

    Ok...nevermind. I've been spending too much time on the wife's laptop... it's the laptop, not Windows 7

    On a side note, if you want to play games with great aspect ratio and color, try an Acer Aspire Timeline series laptop!
