You are conflating the underlying physical reality with the tools used to model and explain it.
That was pretty much the whole point of my first post. Physics is used to explain the fundamental underlying principals. By definition, if something in biology was found to conflict with the laws of physics, the current theory would be reviewed and meticulously analyzed until it could be explained or amended.
I'll leave it to you or any Biologist to point me to anything that suggests that biology defies physics.
How about you give me an example of something in biology that doesn't follow from physics.
If it is so, then we would have on our hands a great discovery in Physics, Biology and Mathematics all at the same time.
I suspect that the biology of one or more processes has been discovered already and the math to bridge the gap from existing theories needs to be invented.
But pay no attention to me, I don't know what I'm talking about!
I'll probably get downmodded for admitting I bought Spore, but the similarities between Stackoverflow's achievements and the space stage of Spore are uncanny.
Like many sites, you are given geek powers the more you use the sight and the more helpful you are, ultimately giving you lots of mod powers. Addictive, but will the people that attain the powers use them for good?
Maybe it's not a good idea to deploy a new product when the majority of the existing user base already has your previous product, which meets their needs.
Maybe it's not good PR to actively try and change the needs of said user base for the sole purpose of getting more users onto your new product.
Maybe it's the most effective thing Microsoft can do...
Skydiving can be dangerous. I avoid it.
Rodeo clowning can be dangerous. I avoid it.
Not tying your shoes can be dangerous. I avoid it.
Checking my email can be dangerous? Oh noes! Now I'm *really* screwed.
Did google get tired of all the noscript/adblock users not allowing googleanalytics.com or any other ad/tracking site?
Will google ever actively support noscript/adblock for *their* browser?
Personally, I like the interface and it has alot going for it. Too bad I can't use it the way I want to, with whitelist-only scripts and no ads. Not holding my breath for that functionality, either.
A Palin/McCain ticket would get more votes than the McCain/Palin ticket will from the disenfranchised Hillary democrats.
Anyone focused so much on gender to vote for the 'other' party (assuming dem. Hillary supporters) needs to wake up and look at the issues and voting records...
Send political emails to coworkers, friends and family.
Link them to sites that display Things That Matter, like voting records and policy positions.
Link them to sites that debunk the misinformation that is also being emailed around.
For best results, don't link to partisan sources and don't present an opinion in the email - people will automatically write it off if they don't agree with your message.
If you receive a mass email that is SPREADING misinformation, don';t stand for it! Write a well written response with specific examples and links to back you up.
People who know why probably aren't buying PC's from box retailers. Really this is just an example of retailers capitalizing on the lack of consumer computing knowledge.
1. The bloatware makers have to market their software, so they try bundling it with new PC's.
2. The manufacturer benefits by receiving payments from the bloatware makers.
3. Best Buy benefits by convincing customers that this bloatware needs to be removed at a price.
4. The bloatware makers catch on to their failing attempts to actually market the software, and stop paying the manufacturer.
Business as usual?
'Windows 2009' makes *no* sense - who wants to buy 'Win 2009' if it's 2010 or 2011? Makes it sound obsolete.

the last thing the established broadcasting players want is more competition

A firm selling data security products claims that people with access to sensitive information can't be trusted. News at 10.
You're right, it might take a less-than-stellar PC buyer days.
Why not buy online vs a Box store? Compare Best Buy's customer service (eek) to Newegg's... Also, online prices are going to be more competitive, look at the EEE 16gig on Best Buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8905973&type=product&id=1213046768451 $449, windows Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220367 #379, linux
That's $62,000 a year. Most college grads start at much less... where do you live?
