Remember if you can write a better version of KUser or the device manger in Qt 2.0/KDE 2.0 feel free to submit it ftp://ftp.kde.org/incomming/
I think the kde developers want it to look like windows since the help system also looks similar (it has the same icons) and the tree in the file manager is the same as explorer
What do you mean 3rd quarter 1999? I thought it was going to be finished by 1997

X is hard to configure because it asks for stuff like the chipset of your video card or the vertical and horizontal refresh rates on your monitor. Of course that seems easy for an advanced user but the people who use their PC for e-mail and wab surfing dont know about that (and probably don't need to know).
No, he probably isn't. Anyone who wants to use their computers for written stuff needs good fonts on the screen. There's a lot of things that make linux hard to use (printing for example) and they should be changed. I've heard mandrake distributes ttf fonts on their latest distro and the corel distro should too.
Maybe you are right, but would you honestly say that Xwindows is important for desktops and home computers? It could be a bit nicer and more integrated.
Some of the largest companies and richest people in the world are already computer related. And for those asking about highschool, many many people in my school takes the programming classes because thay get to play StarCraft and Quake 2 tournaments. Its almost as popular as phys ed.
You are missing the point, apple won't release any of the client side multimedia stuff for linux because then linux would be competing with MacOS and apple is already having a hard time against windows. I don't think that its wrong because apple is a company and they want to sell, but i do think that standards like mpeg-1 and mpeg-4(soon) are much better than quicktime. Anyway, as soon as fast connections are more common, everyone is going to use mpeg for video and audio.
The thing is, apple doesn't want to provide the specs for sorenson because they say they are not aloud; but they aren't going to provide any quiktime clients themselves, not even a netscape plugin.
Does anyone know if the voodoo3 can be used as a hardware decoder under linux? If so, would this mean that after the project is finished encrypted dvds could be played?
Come on, Real hackers use their hard drive and a tiny magnet to write documents
I think I have a right to back-up my software without paying the music industry.

I'm not if anyone noticed yet.
People who work with spreadsheats use the numbers as a calculator; people who play action games use it as arrows.
Health Care is better in the US if and only if you are rich; If you are poor its better in Canada.

My 1 meg trident video card runs as crappy on linux/X as on Windows.
No, its 10 in roman
I think its not refreshing the number of comments.
Maybe they can deliver faster this way

What decline of Microsoft? Do you have a time machine I could borrow?
Everyone takes it because there is no exam.

I see your point, i just never thought they would be that stupid.

Because there's a client from ms but not one from apple.
I remember seeing a beta of mediaplayer for linux on the ms site last year...
I'll see if i can find the link
After all, its most likely for MS to release a linux port of media player than for apple to realease a quicktime client.
The voodoo3 works at 32-bit 2D or 16-bit 3D. Although the fact that it doesn't support 32 bits for games doesn't matter since most games use 16 bit
