Actually its not the SPIRIT either. EOE refers to hiring/not hiring based on arbitrary uncontrollable things like gender and race, etc. Your former employer is very very pertinent and quite rightly so.

As many have stated, despite the political statement, I wouldn't want any former SCOs working for me for fear of tainted ip. Its hard for them to remove IP from their employees upon leaving the company.

You chose to work there ultimately. Is it a balance between eating and values? Maybe. Is that an excuse? Never. Go read some Marx and learn about the alienation of your true self at work. ;)

You can only claim to look the other way for so long.

art and business arent mutually exclusive. A band like RATM makes a shitload of money...but...it is a huge vehicle to get their message across. A message that wouldnt reach the masses if they were indie.

Is it pure art? no. The music biz is about entertainment...but you can take pride and put your blood sweat and tears into your work. Getting paid to do something doesnt negate the intrinsic value of what you created.

And can explain how they came to be selling THIS machine? I mean. I totally understand how you can staff clueless people as most electronics store employees are pretty clueless or just FUD-injected. But who made the decision to sell this unit? Seems pretty poor to me.

If you are going to sell something, it needs to be a quality product. This goes for anything. I just don't understand how a big retailer like Frys can end up with something like this on their shelves.

A decent box running a current popular distro advertised as a cheap webbox could certainly sell IMHO, but not this.
