Is that you cannot utilize any library etc. that is GPL'd inside a product that is proprietary. I think it limits its effectiveness by not allowing anyone to do that.
As I recall, Bill Gates wasn't attacking open source, but rather the GPL for specificly this reason.
How about a customized App for the PS2 that runs on Linux.... The user of the app does not need to _know_ its running on Linux. For example, an MP3 jukebox.
I do swear that you're wrong. The only way your post could've been deleted is if there's a bug in the slash code, which is quite possible. Taco simply doesn't delete posts.
Depends on what you mean by a VoIP server. Do you mean a router or a voip client or some sort of application server? On top of that decision is whether or not you want to use specialized hardware (DSPs) to do the job. It can always be done in software which is nice, so Linux and BSD or Windows are not out of the question at all. If you wanted to build a conference server using SIP and certain media codecs for VoIP, its very possible. A few proprietary prototype implementations exist. Voice XML servers as well.
I don't buy it. For one, if they're making tons of money, then why would they need to be paid by the reporter? Moreover, why would they put themselves at risk of getting caught if they're so successful?
I think they meant that the offspring will be sterile. Kind of the way a mule cannot reproduce because its a combination of horse and donkey. The next generation of moths will not be able to reproduce, thuse eliminating an enormous amount of insects. The upside to the way this works is that they can very easily control the amount of insects they kill off, since the sterile insects will die off.
I signed a non-compete which essentially stated that I cannot work for any of my company's top 10 competitors that are published on on a list.
They have never published a list, so if it were to ever come to a legal battle, I could simply point that fact out. Besides, I highly doubt that they would enforce this if it were a senior-level engineer or manager, or someone who could seriously damage the company.
I signed the document because it specificly described what a competitor was. I felt that there were plenty of other niches where I could utilize the same skills in this industry where I would not be competing with my company.
KDevelop and Kernel Development

KDE 2.1 Is Out

Anyone know if there's a really easy way of setting up KDevelop to do kernel development? If someone has seen a config file for KDevelop to do this, and could point me to it, that'd rock. If not, I think I'll do it myself and publish it. This would make it easy for people to jump into the action using an IDE.
This is honestly the silliest thing I've ever heard. Not only would this piss off an enormous amounts of consumers, but we're in a free market!! Unless a company like Microsoft who has a virtual strangle hold over the OS industry (for laymen atleast) attempted to do this, a competitor would immediately market the exact OPPOSITE. This is a non-issue, made up in someones head, who obviously does not understand market economies.
This is somewhat old news. Now call me a conspiracy theorist, but I honestly believe the US govt has had atleast one of these types of aircraft for quite some time now.
In the 90's, Reagan started the Aurora Project which was to create a hyper-sonic plane that could go from NYC to Tokyo in under 2 hours. The engines were scram jets.
The project was never really heard of since then, but oodles of initial money was dumped into it. Also, the US' fastest airplane, the SR-71 has since been retired with no replacement (some say that satelites make high/fast flying planes obsolete). IMHO I think we have a couple of these jets being used in our military.
I'm pretty sure I've got my facts straight on this. Anyone else heard of this?

Go ahead, mod me down. I know you will.
Go read something other than /.
http://www.fcc.gov/3G/
Then go read something about electromagentic waves and how they're used in communication.
Then move to Japan because you're obviously worthless here.
Its very powerful but has a learning curve measured in years.
... long before most people will even get cablemodems or dsl. 2.5Mbs will simply rock.
Because we know ALL those spammers obey the rules!

Should we blame the images on TV? NO, Blame Canada!
Haven't these people learned anything??!?!
Taco doesn't "delete" posts, with the exception of the Scientology DMCA issue. You've obviously made a mistake.

Probably just pinching gullible people.
And what happens during a storm?
Yes its possible. Highly unlikely. Another vaporware product from another vaporware company looking for attention.
Of course, a few terabytes of digits would exceed the resolution of any atomic matter, but the idea was there.
No, it depends on how long the rod is.
Check it out!!

I hope others do the same....
How about a self printing printer! You don't even need to design it, because it'll design and print itself!

... and watch the sparks fly.
Its a pretty neat trick.

CT is hardly a religious state. In fact, I'd say that CT is mostly liberal.
I think this law has simply not been repealed because nobody cares about it.
err I meant 80's obviously ;)
