Please don't write-in a candidate unless you mean it - ... Any such "protest vote" will not go any further than your own feeling of accomplishment...

Second that!. Many states don't allow write-in unless they are officially recognized. So votes for Micky Mouse often are not even counted. Voting for a listed 3rd party is a much better alternative even if you don't agree with them.

Potentate and dictators are much more common to history than democratically elected representative governments. John Locke and many other simply disagreed with that so it must be a bad idea? I think you mean disagreeing with good reason is fine but simple disagreement isn't.

At least for your states Supreme Court you can lookup their written decisions. Sometimes Wikipedia has a listing of individual judges and their decisions for your state. Pick an issue you know when to the state court and lookup the decision. Each state should have these decisions online in some form. Try searching for keywords like Abortion, Marijuana, Alcohol (Wine shipments to your state and microbrew issues). In Indiana we are trying to vote out "Steven H. David" for his decision stating "We hold that there is no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers." http://www.in.gov/judiciary/opinions/pdf/05121101shd.pdf

I think that's been the Nokia problem all these years. The can't seam to release a phone without all the extra crap the carriers want on it. I remember wanting an N80 sooooo bad because it has WiFi but you just couldn't get one in the States first off then when it was available the WiFi was disabled!!!!

I didn't realize that speciation wasn't required for evolution. It's kind of disturbing because the Creationists can then say "All species were created at the beginning and simply "Evolved" their appearance". I don't think we want that. As for the grizzly/polar bear example do we know if the offspring are sterile or not? If not then I get a picture of Evolution that's much cooler than I ever thought. You now have a way for a breed to become another specie if environmental conditions demand or to back track and interbred with its former line to start again another century.

  8. Point of order on Habitable Zone on NASA's Kepler Discovers Multiple Planets Orbiting a Pair of Stars · · Score: 2

We only have one known planet where life has occurred and is sustained. There is no prof, yet, that life ever occurred on Mars or any other planet in our system. At this point with what we actually know about life I think the "habitable zone" graphics on some of these press releases are overly optimistic. I hope we can find evidence of life on Mars so we can actually expand our "known" habitable zone.

Dog breeds are not evolution, perhaps in some liberal definition they are but any canine can breed with any other. Even wolves and breed with domestic dogs. Now if after 1000's of years we had come up with a line of animal derived from dogs but couldn't be breed with a dog then we might have something. Even if we could get to a dog that can breed with a wolf then we would have something. And size doesn't matter, if the sperm can fertilize the egg and get offspring that can also reproduce we have it. Horses + Donkeys = Mules is on the right track but still not quite there cause Mule + Mule = 0

Guns and access to guns represent probably "The" most politically controversial object on the pennant. Now guns have become data and data is meant to be free and open to all, no restrictions. It really messes with most people's idea of "open and free".
