    Ok honestly .. I have something to confess .. I feel like the guy at an AA meeting that feels he needs to be there cuz he gets trashed of boones farm ... Or the car that never ... well anyway ..
    I love using unix/linux, and i envy you guys out there that get to see bash everyday. I think a Solaris Admin would be my ultimate job, but right now im stuck in windows :( wirting VB and C# all day ... .NET controls, msSQL stored procedures .... Maybe this is the most geeky thing youll ever see on /. but i wish i could be sitting at a green on black screen with a blinking cursor all day, typing redirections and dd'ing the hell out of every file ... you people have it goood!! im gonna cry .. i need some boobies to wipe my tears ...
    the point is, fuck you! i wanna be a unix admin (i smell blockbuster theme coming on .. )

    This might be a dumb question .. First before:
    I have always thought CD media to be the BEST way to backup/archive data, because it doesnt have magnetic retention that can be lost over time. Out of any media, what media is the best way to archive data? And for the dumb Question:
    How do CD's actually go bad? They are physically carved .. does the material slouch or disintegrate over time? For being a hardware guy for awhile, it just seems to me that CDs wouldnt go bad ... not for hundreds of years at least

    I really think Barack (there i fixed it ;) ) will do a good job, although im not a very active political person, his personality comes off as being a good person. I think most Americans have the fear of another bad president. Bush put us in shit and now we are so deep our shovels wont help .. ( The car tire is flat, and all we have is duct-tape) .. I know im not the only to think our goverment is corrupt. But as much power as i have to change things (my vote?) i will have faith in him and hope that we can turn our economy around and put us (USA) back as a world [economy] power.

    I feel Obama want office because he wants 'us' to succeed. If he stuffs his pockets like every other politician, WE ARE FUCKED.

    Im not a science guy, and my post might be too late to get an answer. What about how when you pull a plug in a drain, the water swirls and goes down, could this be the same, but the 'water' comes out somewhere else? like a different dimension? From what ive read about string theory and stuff in that math bracket, I would think the center of a black hole would have plenty of energy to rip a hole in a dimension and pour through. And i would think this would happen far before it could reach a saturation point, OR maybe that point is when the dimensions come apart.

    Im a programmer, and live in Northern MN, and i know i dont get paid alot (30K/year?) But living up here is nice because it was enough for the banking officer to give me 165k for my new 4 bedroom house :) (and 10 acres and a garage i can fit my huse in). Oh yea, and all the deer i can shoot from my door step :)
    The bottom line is that it might not be worth going to a big city to get that big job, because everything costs so damn much.!

    Budweiser is a good beer. and let me remind you its not a dark beer. Yes there is a lot of water in it. But it does have a good taste. And also, you should try the new Budweiser American Lager, Its pretty good i think.

    Samba is great, Ive set up countless machines with it, but the big stumbling block i see right now is the integration with ADS replication. I know Samba 3 is supposed to have it, but it sounds like it will be minimum support. I would like to see where i could unplug one ADS server, plug in a Samba server and have no problems. Other than that, Samba is already a great product and I think working with M$ will only make it better.

    That would be nice,
    As it stands, It takes around 24 hours to drive from North Minnesota to south Florida .. And to able to drive though Kentucky and not notice it, THAT WOULD BE SWEET!
    you know the wierd part about the Mag-train, And other wierd inventions (Space elevator) are all laughed at by everyone else and the Japs look at it and say, "YeA! Thats a sweet fuckin idea! Lets do it!" And then everyone else is like, Wow, Those japs make really cool stuff!

    I just dont get it ...

    I know how this old lady feels.
    It sucks to be violated by some punks that dont even know you.
    I had some people call about my student loan and said they had a federal rebate for me, all i had to do is give them a routing number to my bank account. and then they started trying to get me to say yes on a recorded call to saying they could take $400 dollars for a bunch of coupons .. i thought it might be a scam, but fell for giving my routing number, and said no to the coupons. they still trying to take my money, luckily i didnt have $400 in my account :)
    After me being a dumbass i called the State attorney General and they told me to call the FBI. The FBI said it happens all the time and there isnt anything they can do, cuz they cant find them.
    I think this is why its such a big problem, no one wants to handle it, the FBI just says, sorry no my problem, and the crooks prolly know this!
