Honestly. Up until Windows XP working inside windows without admin options was a constant annoyance.
Even now it's not really comfortable. It's not that the users wouldn't care. It's just barely useable.
Since Windows needs lot of maintenance throughout it's silent decay until reinstallation, most users feel they are better of working as admin right away.:) What adds to it is that windows really lowered the bar on "advanced options". Stuff like hiding c:\Program Files per default makes every newbie feel like a powerful admin since he gets the concept of driveletters.
Furthermore it is not obvious that even professionals should work as normal users as best practice. And windows setup doesn't really help much with a smoke and mirrors way of creating users and rights.
I got my VHS 6 years ago when I moved in at my parents basement. Naturally it had to be the cheapest one available. It contains one tape since half a year now and records my daily dose of Trek.
Easy. Programmed it once never runs out of tape. At the end it just rewinds and starts over. Quality is ok, as I don't need high definition to watch nice pron^N^N^N^Nscifi stories before bedtime. I won't replace it unless it breaks.
I really like digital HD-recorders a la Tivo but I don't think my das would throw away his extensive hardcore collection on VHS just yet.
I will replace mine, however, if it dies with a DVR. If, by the time, there is more smut on E-Mule than in dads locker...

"I think it's time for a new chancellor. A strong chancellor!"
As a german I must say we had this before, a democrcy being turned into a dictatorship and I think that's where Lucas borrowed from in the prequels. I can see some of these tendencies in the US too. And I must say I am worried...
Well, actually you would have seen the whole message if you wouldn't have gone to Toshi station to pick up some power converters. But then again much of your boring life as a moisture farmer would have been quite different and you wouldn't have been killed by a bunch of stormtroopers the day after you found that weird message inside that R2 unit.:)
Ok, as a member of a team with indian developers I can tell you that india is FAR away from beeing a technology paradise. If it's anything like what my boss told me who spent a lot of time there it even closely resembles hell.
You definetly wouldn't want to be part of it. Trust me on this.
Although it might be a heavens send to some guys and coporate america.
Slightly offtopic, but as of now they are only recording stuff. This is not interactive at all. I am really surprised that there is no company that does real cool Anime pron with interactivity. One would think there would be a million dollar company out there getting it. They started out with softporn beachvolleyball when the Xbox didn't take off, but let's let id-software develop the engine and think about something real neat. I am supposed to live in the century of Cyberpunk and we don't get 3D, interactive pron? Come on. And, NO, Poser makes real creepy lifeless 3D models.
Lest I forget, it was a total pita to get songs on it since it connected to the parallell port and used a proprierty protocol. I bet there is a Linux project around somewhere by now, but still, it was slo-o-o-o-w!
I once had one of those MP-Men. Interestingly in germany it was labeled as a Schneider MP-Man". Y'know, the company that brought you the Schneider CPC back in the 80s.
I sold it for 50 a year ago. It was kinda cool, but honestly I don't regret it. It was too big, had too little Memory and couldn't handle any other files except plain old MP3. It was pretty much an early adopters gadget...
Offtopic, but has anyone ever taken a HD apart? Last time I did this there were two of the strongest magnets I ever saw in there. I am still clueless how the data integrity is kept with these so close to the platters. Well, I could have looked this up maybe..;-)
Lol, hey actually it worked but I had to properly dry it and then it took a day or so until it came back to live. Not sure how this may have affected it's durability. Honestly, I won't recommend it.;-)
Not really sure about the thumbsconcept but last time Microsoft tried to generate a trend in hardware it failed miserably. The TabletPC was supposed to be the future of Notebooks but apart from some niches it never really took off. They seem to propse a new trend every two years but apart from their mice (scrollwheel, optical mice) I haven't seen any real hardware innovation from them for quite some time.
While you were saying this I am actually wondering, I haven't been sick for three years now (knock on wood) and i work in techsupport. I thouch other peoples keyboards all day. Maybe this strengthened my immune system or something. At least the idea that makes my day a bit brighter.,-)
Well, as of writing this my dishwasher is just cleaning my IBM keyboard. I wanted to try this for years but never had the balls to. Today is the day. I will post the results later. Wish me luck...
First of all: chill down. This link leads to a real artivle not an offensive image. Second: I must say that Wiki serves me pretty well especially with some cryptic webtrends/names wich I sometimes don't get the first time. It's a great source if you want to know more about things you wouldn't find in any other encyclopedia. This is where Encarta will come in second place I guess.
I will get to drink Robo Cola anytime soon??
Nice friends you have. Sounds like a complete asshole to me.
Yup, like Slackware on a Dell POweredge. I was deeply impressed how smooth everything went. It felt like out of the box. :)

But then again, maybe it's ok for you because you advertise for your company in your sig.
Well, if your boss needs a reason to fire you why not do so because you keep surfing slashdot during your work on saturday?
Nothing to see here... ;)

Or am I plain wrong? Links anyone?
Nono, it's a super powersaving CPU using software layers to emulate a x86 and it will be BIG!

Bu then again, this could lead to typos...
The best band since the beatles. Yeah, rrright.

Doesn't work for me. Maybe it's my Slackware build of Firefox. Damn. I would have loved to see that offensive pic.
Not before it's even older news, that's for sure. ;)
