Because of our corrupt campaign finance system, neither Republicans nor Democrats will enforce the anti-trust laws. So we have constant mergers reducing the number of players competing in every market, but no force actively breaking up larger companies into smaller companies to apply pressure in the other direction.
The net result is less competition, and I shouldn't have to remind you that competition is the engine that drives a capitalist system.
While I agree with you that this is a bad decision with negative consequences for the industry, well, you did mention the irony here so I won't have to explain why I am experiencing a twinge of schadenfreude right now.
The vast majority of movies produced by Hollywood is complete and utter crap, and are different from movies from other countries only in that they have more expensive special effects budgets and much larger marketing budgets. That's not to say other countries don't produce their own share of crap, but I look forward to the day when movies are cheaper to make because by then, I as a consumer will have more producers to choose from.
As for the music industry, I look forward to the day when I mostly buy my music digitally directly from the actual musicians and the overpaid corporate leeches have been removed from the equation entirely. The music industry now makes most of its money suing customers, which pretty well proves they aren't adding much of value to the product (otherwise their primary income would be from, you know, selling the products they use as a centerpiece of all those lawsuits).
Other non-communist cities will not tolerate such a waste of taxpayer dolla... Oh. Rich people will also benefit from this? Then it might be a good idea! Is there any way we can prevent the peasants in the lower 98th percentile from using this system? [/conservolibertarian]
The Jean Grey thing may have been on purpose
on
X-Men: First Class
·
· Score: 1
I've heard it argued that they deliberately created the Jean Grey discontinuity in order to nullify the third film. While this is a good dream, I have little faith in that explanation.
Ororo was there, but the cameo was briefer

X-Men: First Class

· Score: 5, Interesting
SPOILER:
When Xavier was trying out Cerebro for the first time and sifting through the minds of millions of people, one of the images to fly by the screen was what was clearly supposed to be Ororo as a child.
I have a hard enough time explaining to my users what a URL is, what all the stuff in the domain name means, and why it is important to pay attention to it. The users who can't or won't do this are precisely the ones likely to hide the URL bar (assuming they figure out how to do so, which is a stretch for most of them).
As I read this article, the feature is not set by default, but the mere existence of it fills me with fear.
They haven't screwed over the people who make all that expensive content development software for Mac.. oh wait. Right. Adobe. Uh, forget I said anything.
Most of their original content is pure crap, and they've obviously decided to switch to a format showing something other than science fiction (hence the name change). They don't need to be a premium channel to show wrestling and "ghost hunter" shows to mentally disabled people. Can you tell I've stopped watching?
I'm on to you! Real Americans(TM) on the radio warned me about your plot to confiscate all our Bibles and guns! Yer obviously onna them people whut believes Obama was barn in Amurka! [/silly]
...this event shows that war is not the correct way to wage this fight.
In the lead up to these two wars, many said that we should focus on intelligence and surgical special ops, as well as treat this as an international law enforcement matter rather than wage two wars. Instead, Bush (and now Obama) have decided that we need to use a jackhammer to push in a thumbtack. The wars are insanely expensive, anger people enough to provide al Qa'eda with endless volunteers and donors, and for what? So we can shoot up wedding parties and torture cab drivers by the thousand? The wars are stupid, expensive, and counterproductive. This should be an intelligence/law enforcement matter, not an excuse for the ongoing occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Californians pay more than twice what you pay during peak summer hours (which would be precisely when those solar panels would be generating the most electricity).
How dare you? You're obviously onna them communist-fascist liberals who wants to confiscate all of our guns! Glenn Beck warned me about people like yoo! Yew can have mah gun when yew kin pry it from mah cold dead fangers!;)
If the best argument you can muster for clinging to a particular measurement system centers around tolerance, you've already lost the debate. Tolerance is a perfectly good reason for adjusting social and even economic policy, but it is not a reason for choosing one measurement system over another.
When DVD hit, people got better image quality out of the televisions they already had. If you don't already have a high def TV, then that Blu-Ray player isn't going to do anything for you.
Compounding that is the ignorance of the public. Many of those who already own high definition televisions frankly don't understand what the benefit of Blu-Ray is. They figure that because they got the high def television, they're already getting better quality images, so why spend the extra money on a Blu-Ray player? I know this sounds stupid, but it took me years to convince my brother of the benefits of a Blu-Ray player. In the end, the only way I could get him to see the difference was to buy him one as a Christmas gift.
I was just reading the section in Dawkins' Greatest Show on Earth in which he expresses how annoyed he is whenever these articles use the phrase "missing link".
Instead of trying to figure out why America is in decline and doing something about it, let's just assume that America is not in decline and keep doing all the things that brought us to this point! Then, if that's not enough sticking-your-head-in-the-sand, we can ridicule the people who suggest doing anything about it, perhaps with catchy phrases such as "blame America first" or something.
I think it's great when people call us out on not living up to our standards, because it helps to keep us honest (or at least less dishonest). Unfortunately, those prone to using phrases such as "blame America first" do not agree with me. They feel America should only be criticized when a Democrat is in the White House.

Let us know where you found this semblance of intelligence so we can track it down and crush it with aluminum baseball bats!
Why would you choose a webmail address that uses your real name? That's practically asking for trouble!

Then social media is not the right forum for you. Try a properly-moderated old-fashioned message board for that.

Thanks for posting that.
This poster is clearly persecuting Christians! Make him stop! Make him stooooooop! [/sarcasm]

Personally, I find mouse gestures obnoxious. I suppose it was inevitable that the gestures would become literal gestures.
