Just because some killer game doesn't force you to upgrade your hardware doesn't mean you don't need a faster CPU.
Just think about kernel compile times - I've only got a dual celeron 500 system... it compiles kernels in under 3 minutes... now if I had a quad Xeon system... I could be compiling kernels in under 30 seconds... or faster. (IO depending of course).
That's 2.5 minutes I get back in a given day (that I happen to compile a kernel in). Wow!
Now just think about when someone work related sends me a word document - and I have to open up star office to view/edit it... if I had a faster set of CPUs (and more ram, and faster IO) StarOffice would come in in a few seconds - rather than say 20 seconds... again - I've raked back valuable seconds in my day...
That doesn't sound like a lot does it? Well, let's say that I have to do a kernel compile every day - and open a staroffice document everyday - and it takes 3 minutes total each day. Expand that to 365 days - that's 1095 minutes (or 18.25 hours) a year...
Okay, so all things considered - fat people use more soap --- a valuable statement meaning that I probably would just fritter away that extra time each day (say typing up some gibberish in a/. post, or maybe checking/. an additional time that day for new news...) but it would also be very cool to have a system that compiled a kernel in the time it takes to say "I'm compiling a kernel!".... doncha think?
As the Tick has said "Always remember: less is less, more is more. More is better, and twice as much is good too... Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right." That pretty much sums it up right there...
...I would just want:
Reasonable acceleration/top speed.
A good looking (if small) car.
Reasonable range (say 300-500 Km on a single charge)
Reasonable re-charge time from a normal home circuit (over night perhaps).
A reasonable price tag.
I don't think I can get all of that just yet.
Don't get me wrong, I love PHP - I wrote "BlackNova Traders" using PHP and MySQL... and the language rocks for web programming... but that was its intended use.
I don't want to see PHP lose its focus and purpose - it isn't a general use language... if you want one, there are plenty (C/C++, perl, and even java for example). PHP is meant for dynamic kick-ass web-page creation.
I enjoy my Palm IIIc, but I would really enjoy having a hand-held that ran linux out of the box - and didn't require a ton of tweaking to make it work.
When you think about it actually does make a kind of sense... these things don't need to be really maneuverable - and they can carry a pretty heavy payload.
Add to that the fact that 747 are 'commercially available' and it even becomes financially feasible... and you could use commercially trained pilots - rather than expensive fighter pilots.
i've read it in depth... and well, there isn't anything in there that isn't "boilerplate"...
"Don't do anything illegal" - and if you do, they're not liable... as for entering your premises... that's for service/installation. And you can send "anonymous" e-mail... you just can't impersonate someone else.
I think if you check your ISP's AUP - you'll find a lot of the same stuff...
Go to SourceForge - find a project that needs help in a language you are familliar in - and take on tasks...
Once you are comfortable doing code to some-one elses specs - you could try your hand at adding in features you feel are needed, or even trying to manage a portion of a project.
There are all sorts of 'job postings' on sourceforge for projects that need help.
Nope... our science fiction channel (Space TV) doesn't carry very much that is new - let alone owned by another network... and you can't get SCI-FI unless you have a pirated dish.

That's what you're really saying. ;)
Bad author - jokes by sexual innuendo... bad.
... I have a n64, DC, and a PS (1 not 2)... and I get a lot of use out of the DC...
I don't think they bungled it.
Couldn't find the 10.4" - got a link?
Safety yes - storage no... I don't need that for a commuter vehicle...

In the mean time, I will still use the Palm...
Dr. Fun, Goats, Bob the Angry Flower and Too Much Coffee Man.
Well you could check out BlackNova Traders a web-based tradewars game...
That would be very suspicious - since there's no passengers getting on/off - or any cargo leaving...

I mean that seems kind of harsh.
I suppose anything can stand until it is challenged in court though, right?
DR dos in a vmware window... :)
There's also x-scorch... but it lacks a little right now.
I think so - but Stars! has become much more popular.
Can't just yet - that's a future enhancement - right now I'm working on core functionality.
If you were making a web-based game - what language would you have used?
I could have used perl, or python or even C if I had wanted... but I wanted to learn PHP...
I don't regret that choice.
The site is just damned slow right now... but it's still kicking out pages...

Who wouldn't get the Space 1999 reference?
BTW, Martin Landau rules... (He was the captain/leader on Space 1999) even if he hasn't aged very well...
...is here.
