that might be a factor. but from what i recall, when ie6 was just released (with xp?) it was much better than netscape. i had been using netscape since forever, but i switched to ie because it was not as ugly as netscape, faster and was impossible to uninstall. it WAS the best browser at that time.
java was slow and will always be slow. even though microbenchmarks show that java performs similar to c++, i haven't seen any improvement in applications like vuze, the aduino compiler, openoffice. they are slow as ever. the problem is not with your installation. its java.
using a solid os won't protect you from human stupidity. i thought that was a given. perhaps letting microsoft setup everything would be better for stupid people like lse. more expensive but atleast no stupid errors. meanwhile, intelligent people continue using linux to their advantage.
Why is my android phone so locked down that I can't do basic things with it like I could with a PC?...The real issues is that all these companies, including google, intel, MS, Apple, etc all fear the basic commodization of their technology. Phones don't need carrier branding, carrier apps, etc. They really just need a decent data connection. Lets us use our own VOIP apps and don't put undeletable carrier bullshit on our phones.
because you pushed nokia out of the market. they've till now, always taken the user's side. symbian phones are by default unlocked and do not have any carrier pre-loaded shit. there is no need to 'jailbreak' them to install your own apps. but even though the self-signing process is a little painful, its miles better than not being able to run your app at all.
They aren't prohibiting "Free Software"...Hence GPL like licenses that require distribution of source code, and that you grant redistribution rights to everyone you distribute it to are being explicitly prohibited.
inconsistency detected. one of the basic characteristic of open source software is the freely distributable source. its like saying, "they're not saying the sun is cold, they're just saying that it is cold."
i've started seeing chrome do the same thing ie used to do. a glaring example is the new mail desktop notifications in gmail. it works only in gmail and only on chrome(ium). this is not a part of any standard whatsoever. google is just exploiting its influence (gmail and chrome) to create de facto standards. if this trend continues, we'll see ie6 all over again. ie6 did the same thing, it created lots and lots of great new features that were not part of any standard. and it was a better browser than the competition at that time. chrome will be the new ie6.
I haven't seen any evidence that VideoLAN has licensed the AVC patents for use in VLC. It'd be incompatible with the program's copyright license anyway.
and i don't care if they have licensed any codecs. it PLAYS every codec under the sun. that's all i care about.
e71 heap of crap? are you fucking insane? i've never seen a better smartphone. the battery lasts a week, it ran on 3.5g when iphone was on edge. the network reception is just brilliant, it does video calls, has a decent camera with autofocus and flash. the keyboard is on par with a blackberry, the reflective screen is perfectly visible in extreme sunlight. the only problem one could have would be the lack of a standard headphone port.
i would argue that a fucking xbox 360 is better suited. you can access media on any of the pcs in your home network (in full hd) and there is no need to hack around. also, you can play awesome games. and its 200$.
apple tv is nothing but a failed, overpriced and unnecessary piece of low tech electronics. also, apple does not seem to be focusing its massive hype machine on it. so, don't expect much t happen.
I got an error message trying to install Windows 7 SP1 last week
sp1 is out?? why doesn't it appear in my updates? and its already giving mysterious errors!
why should an innocent sentence be murdered just to compensate for YOUR brain's stunted capability?
What else could be causing that? Polar bears and penguins dancing the mamba?
without scientific evidence, not any less than man-made co2.
he found the oldest ie6 version he could. this is a valid comparison.
LOL!
but i must say i like this better than sites allowing you to delete your comment from existence (like facebook).

ohh! just like my native programs! then i'll be able to download programs and run them on my OWN computer!!!11
Java is also really slow for some reason.
java was slow and will always be slow. even though microbenchmarks show that java performs similar to c++, i haven't seen any improvement in applications like vuze, the aduino compiler, openoffice. they are slow as ever. the problem is not with your installation. its java.
hell even ie9 scores better. chrome outhta be ashamed.

I don't know what Nokia uses, but I do know what they're using going forward.
nokia was perhaps the first one to have a webkit browser in their phones. hasn't stopped the browsers from sucking, though.

No what the poster is saying is that Nokia has a huge market share but to be clear most of it is in dumb phones.
that is wrong. in the samrtphones market, nokia still sells the most number of units. more than android and more than apple.
transformers.
i love it when google kicks some other company's ass.

you don't NEED to run xmbc on xbox. it already IS a media center.
i would argue that a fucking xbox 360 is better suited. you can access media on any of the pcs in your home network (in full hd) and there is no need to hack around. also, you can play awesome games. and its 200$.

Do you enter a passwrod when start your phone?
yes. i enter the pin to unlock the sim card and then i enter the 6 digit phone unlock code. both on my nokia and older sony ericsson. you were saying?
stop being ridiculous! they don't need no R&D!! not when they can just steal stuff from companies that have invested lotsa $$ in research.
Sony is making it inconvenient for you to use the PS3 no matter what you do.
how am i inconvenienced if i never run a pirated game, or try to hack ps3 to run homebrew software (something it was never supposed to do)?
