    A US state can do whatever it wants with respect to the federal government as long as it has the firepower to back it up.

    Or, more generally, a group of people can do whatever it wants as long as it can overpower all groups trying to oppose it.

    Even if every person in a state was in favor of succession I doubt they could stand up to the federal government, which historically has had little reservation about attacking and incarcerating its own citizens.

    Even drawing the line at a creative work is problematic. For the next super-secret encryption key, they will make the flag first, claim they chose the colors for the aesthetics, and then use the number.

    I really liked the quarter system. They are trying to make it more like the other schools it competes with, which will probably improve its name outside of western NY, but decrease the quality of education.

    I really liked the old brick buildings too. I hardly recognize the place now. It used to be distinctive, and consistent across the campus. Now it looks like a scattering of unrelated buildings.

    MIT, RIT, Caltech, Stanford

    RIT is a tier down from the others listed, both in terms of prestige and price. It is probably a much better bang for your buck.

    Some states (NY for example) make the tire stores charge the tire disposal fee even if you keep the old tires.

    I make sure I get my money's worth by taking the used tires and leaving them at the side of the freeway.

    Food channels work. People watching are interested in food, and you can advertise food and food related products.

    The golf channel works - you can advertise golf equipment, luxury cars, and drugs treating the ailments of the baby boomers watching.

    What are you going to sell to the nerds watching science fiction?

    People often leave on good terms and the accounts are kept so the ex-employees can help out later here and there if asked.

    I have used an iPad and a Galaxy. The iPad is okay for Angry Birds, but unusable for anything involving text. Scrolling is erratic. Text selection ranges from frustrating to impossible. The magnifier comes up all the time when I am trying to do something else. Flipping from one orientation to the other is buggy.

    The Galaxy is quite usable.

    You could never photocopy a dead-tree book and loan that out. Likewise, why would you be allowed to make a digital copy of a book and send that out to your friends?

    Should I not be allowed to send a digital copy to a single friend and delete it from my own device?

    The real solution is to stop using energy to push 3500 pound cars with a few hundred pounds of human all over the place. Half the cars in this country should be replaced by bicycles.

    A lot of hires are done by HR departments and middle managers who do not know enough about the subject to ask even simple questions. To them, a degree means a lot more than your ability to answer questions or to do the job. Your suit matters more than your ability to answer questions.

    I have read a few cases of people driving into bodies of water and buildings. I cannot fathom how someone would just drive into water. I suspect they drove off the road because they were fidgeting with the GPS or something else instead of looking at the road, and then blamed the GPS
