  1. Neither Banks nor Governments Want Cash Usage on Austrian Minister Calls For a Constitutional Right To Pay In Cash · · Score: 1

We're moving to a cashless society like it or not. I don't like it! I prefer to pay cash for everything. Banks don't want you to use cash. Governments don't what you to use cash. NSA wants to know what movies you watch, what books you buy, what places you go to, control of your toaster and everything in between while making you bankrupt by a single keystroke if you're not towing the correct political line.. I'm glad I live in a relatively low tech country where I'll probably die before it gets implemented here, but you folks in high tech areas--your days of cash buying are serious numbered. Still I wish the folks in Austria good luck, but believe it will ultimately be a futile struggle.

One can easily imagine a new form of terror--the creation of mass "false positives" - which get you on a list which you can never get off--just like the "no-fly list".

  4. Now that the backdoor has been revealed, it certainly won't be considered as a TOR upgrade, and governments and individuals are now fully aware (or should be) of what a backdoor actually means will steer clear of it. We know of at least one government that will strong-arm the other 8 into doing whatever is asked of them. Let's hope Chaum's project dies an early death.

Do the right thing is to have strong unbreakable encryption with no back doors. That Manhattan DA needs to get his head out of his ass and do some friggin' research. He should know first of all that all this spying by NSA has produce ZERO results--no terrorists have ever been caught by this kind of spying. Second, the Paris attacks used unencrypted SMS.

Shutting down websites is a ridiculous idea. The US does not control world domain registrations and could not do this. I propose a more interesting solution: Getting NSA off their butts and stop tracking everyone's porn viewing habits and start identifying who uses these suspect terrorist sites. Then we might get some usable intel.
