Windows ME wasn't that bad - okay, it was only slightly better than 98, and it was'nt very stable, but it was an OS nevertheless. I can't understand why people hate it that much. It came with shiny media features (including Movie Maker) and Pinball.
Agreed. I switched from Ubuntu to Fedora, which 'under the hood' a totally different OS. No problems at all (just remember to type 'yum' instead of 'aptitude':P )
I love the E.U. too. I live there. It's a nice place to be. Microsoft isn't just bullied by 'our' government; it's being slammed onto its knees. I think.

I think spreadsheets evolved almost zero in the last 30 years. Word processing got fonts, colors... Excel is just VisiCalc with buttons.

The 'paint job' is meant to pull Vista out of infancy. There isn't much difference - but that's because it's mostly bugfixes.
