    Oh, this isn't C it's assembly, so the title of this thread is all off. It should be how to rewrite your C code in assembly to optimise your code.

    you can do so many things in basic and so often they are all bad things to do. the use of goto for looking is a bad practice. I will say that MS took it to a level that made it visually easy for people to make large ugly coded programs that did lots of things that people would now write in java/c# today

    There is hardware involved in the pinch zoom, while they did not invent the hardware, they made a unique use of it. Yeah it sucks that they get to patent that, but they do and they did.

    I'd like to know all the patents they got. I mean if they have patents for the app store, um, apt-get is an app store that has been around for longer than itunes, all they did it charge money for em.

    Touchscreens have been around for like over 30 years now, so I'm sure someone has done a lot with them and other people had touch screen phones before apple even had a phone, including HTC.

    HTC has been in the biz for a while, I'm interested to see what they fire back with. I'm sure they will too.

    It's not like they are photographing the insides of peoples houses. They are photographing the streets and outsides of peoples houses. So unless they are hopping over walls of gated communities we are talking public spaces here. I must be missing something here, cause I don't get it! I can understand inside your house is your place, but outside your house is public space. Well unless they have to drive up a private driveway to get pictures of the driveway and if that is the case, it should be marked private property.

    things like totally would be good on their downloadable pdf files. I can't image it is that hard to do either! Personally I would think that you would log into the government website and then be shown your tax forms as they think you should have them. Any schedule B should be filled out, schedule A and C you need to do as you need to tell them many things on those forms. The main 1040 or 1040a or 1040 ez should have much already filled out on it and when you put in any changes to the ABCD forms they should populate the 10f0 ( all of this would be online at the fed site of course ). Then you can just add any other adjustments and it figures out your tax from the tables or whereever. It is possible for them to do and they should too.

    ... it workers leave the office to get coffee elsewhere. Figure a refill ever 2 hours and a 15 to 30 minute commute to a coffee shop depending on where you live they could regret that decision.

    and person. If it is a short sleeve shirt and you get cold in the office can you wear a sweater or jacket? If it is a long sleeve shirt can yo roll up you're sleeves? Who would clean these uniforms and how many of them would you have?

    I can see doing this so people know who the IT guys are, but I think badges would be better. Tell them you want cotten cause you are allergic to polyester :))

    I hate to say this, but windows even allows a user to make that decision. Open up each folder in a new window is a preference. Oh yeah GNOME hates allowing users to make decisions. Somewhere a few years ago that was announced that they would do less preferences. I hate spacial, too many windows to close when you are done.

    Why not just make android better, fix the issues that people have with the UI, make it more user friendly, but don't introduce another linux flavor. It really helps noone but intel if even them

    I think sometimes they act unprofessionally because many companies do not have professional development internally and often the environment they are in is unprofessional. I used to work with a guy that LOVED to call people names when someone came to his cube. He would literally harass you when you came into the cube. He did not get laid off because they think of him as 'the only one that can do the job'. Plain and simple, I think if your boss does not like you, your screwed no matter what. My boss did not like me so I got laid off with others he did not like. Sometimes managers just want yes people and don't want people to 'promote any idea'. It didn't matter how the idea was promoted, it was that you promoted the idea.

    Not completely true. While it probably wont have much of an impact on the iphone, people who don't want att or a jail broke iphone and want something else may find this pretty nice.

    There are loads of applications and games for the maemo platform already. Also you can program it in many different languages from python to C.

    I have an N810 and this is just the next step in the evolution of the N-series. Symbian is slowly dieing and maemo will probably end up replacing it in the long run.

    It also looks like this has 2 cameras, one on the front and one on the back.

    mta is a public agency, thus their data belongs to the public. amtrak is a private rail, thus their data belongs to amtrak. years ago someone created a bart schedule application to show the schedules. now bart provides that application. I think bart bought it. I disagree in that a government agency's data is not theirs. WE the people pay thir salaries, for their equipment, their buildings, and all that they do via taxes. thus 'their' data is ours.

    It looks to me like someone forgot to ltrim the value they had stored. I get why they used a varchar to store the data. I think most programmers here do. What I don't get is why they would assume a number coming from a varchar would not have leading spaced or trailing spaces for that matter.

    Thank you! I'm glad someone gets it. I was actually thinking wah wah, I can't get a new iphone for cheap. Part of the problem is the i in iphone tends to be a phone for self absorbed people (not all). They think they deserve everything.

    as they can still breed and are genetically the same, they are more likely subspecies than actually different species. many dog breeds are different mutations in the same genetic code. there are genes in dogs that are repeater genes, and depending on how many repeats of these genes determines how tall the dog is, the ears and so on

    If you have been paying attention to the way lawsuits work these days, company A sues company B for patent infringement and then company B counter sues company A for patent infringement. My guess is RedHat is covering their butt in the event someone sues them they can counter sue.

    RedHat has been pretty good to the open source community in the past.

    that apple is just going to have a small notebook that happens to have a touch screen as opposed to a 10 inch tablet. Although I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get an apple tablet. I've been waiting to see if they would ever create one.

    I agree, it's not artificial. Evolution is, in part, about adaption due to changes.

    On another note, though, I don't think they are not growing as big, I think that they are not getting a chance to grow as big. There was a show on National Geographic called Hooked: Monster Fish (http://shopngvideos.com/products/hooked_monster_fish). There are fish growing to be large, we just eat them. Could we just be overfishing the larger ones?

    Fish do grow smaller when tank raised though.

    So what if some spammer or someone sends you porn or child porn in this case in your email?

    Anyway, it's not like anyone can spoof an IP address anyway, right? (j/k we know better) so then what if someone does, and the cops don't figure it out and they go after the wrong guy? Suddenly someone could be accused of being a child pedophile and then his neighbors find out. Even AFTER he is found innocent because the police could screw up ( AND THEY DO ), his life will NEVER be the same. Once someone is tagged pedophile even if they are not a pedophile society does not change it's thoughts towards them.

    In theory this sounds like the right idea, but in practice, ANY TIME the government is involved ( and police are part of the government ) things can go amuck.
