My baby sister named her bottle, so I tested this by hiding it when she turned her back. She spent fifteen minutes walking around the house calling it by name.
You beat me to this post.
A lot of the people who started using Ubuntu over the years are the people who saw Compiz and just had to install it. They're the kind of people who think Compiz, Ubuntu, and Linux are the same thing.
To them, learning how to make Ubuntu look like Windows 7/OSX/whatever is totally a big deal and requires an article on Slashdot.
These people make me sick.
Everyone I know has gone through about 10 phones, either through losing them, breaking them, or upgrading (which happens least).
I have had the same Nokia 6030, that I got for free when I started my plan, for five years now.
I would say that I also have a pretty active lifestyle that would be dangerous to a phone. I've dropped it hundreds of times, drunk-dialed/texted for years, and actually pissed on my phone by accident, and it doesn't even look two years old.
I miss the good ol' days when a post like that wouldn't be considered "insightful" on slashdot.
Actually I miss when an article like this wouldn't really have been posted.
I envy you. I've had to do installs for people who literally told me, "I don't know what Linux is I just know that I want it." and thought that "going into the code" meant editing a configuration file in their home directory.
I'll let you assume what distro I installed for them.
Agreed. I knew a guy in my brigade who deployed in 2004 (about the time that shit was bad in Iraq). He can watch those movies and play video games, but he spent his entire enlistment bonus on meth.
What I'm worried about is the habit that trolls have for say, exposing vets to pictures of gore or dead soldiers (Though I've never been on Second Life so I don't know how that works).
The United States is just trying to keep up. Whether or not it's hysteria, we have had various attacks on critical components of our infrastructure, notably the power grid, from Russian and Chinese hackers. Iran also has an entire division devoted to cyber-warfare. I read in Soldiers magazine (I was at MEPS waiting to swear in) and saw an ad for a new unit of the Army, the Army Network Warfare Battalion, and they're looking for soldiers from the intelligence (35) and signal (25) fields, as well as those with CS and programming experience.
"The measure would raise $2.4 million a year for Caldwell's department, according to a financial analysis."
I am also a Louisiana native, and a lot of us know that if Louisiana politicians are pushing for something, then it means that they'll benefit from it in some way. One guy even proposed a tax incentive for people who have children in private schools because he felt that private schooling was a tad too expensive for him. And about the time that Governor Jindal was elected, they were trying to give themselves another raise.
I honestly thought that Jindal would be a bitch to the politicians, and he seemed like it at first, but he came around. I don't agree with him on social issues, but I am glad that he opposes this.
I'm willing to bet that at least some of that $2.4M will not go towards the department.

He was talking about video games, not Halo.
Most Ubuntu users aren't smart enough to notice the memory leak anyway.
They're just masturbating on 4chan all day.
Keep in mind, the article refers to Ubuntu.
that builds a seriously kick-ass distro of Linux, and they put a lot of work into doing so, and they give it to you for free.
I can't stop laughing at this part of your reply.
Does it have a vagina?
He was actually Tyler Durden.
What's the fun in that?

Please?

Also, does anyone know how well this works for FreeBSD?
"Burglar" is now considered an occupation! Where the hell was that at my school's job fair?
You forgot to put on the second pair of sunglasses.

But I'm in the military, and I'd rather brain damage than brain splattage.
A midget is getting annoyed that the TV won't let him watch Real Sex 10.
Some Marines get pretty offended when they're called "soldiers."
Tracking's going to waste a lot of time playing around with Compiz instead of working.
Yo dawg we heard you like shuttles so we put a shuttle in yo shuttle so you can fly while you fly.
