To put you on track with my opinions on Facebook: I feel no desire to use it, it's a self maintaining address book for me. Now,
I'm really wondering what gives Germany the right to say Facebook should allow nicknames, since when is it a users right to use Facebook by law? Is there a facebook.de? hosted in germany for germans? I dont think so. you use Facebook on free will on terms they define... you don't like it, go somewhere else!
I wonder if there would be resistance from power companies if people were able to put cheap solar panels on their houses, or if they would buy up all the patents so you had to buy your panels from them.
They'd just institute daylight-based pricing. Use of electricity during the day = $0.05/kWh. Use of electricity an night = $0.50/kWh. Now you've got to solve the battery problem AND the solar panel problem.
The battery problems have ready been solved. we are just waiting for them to hit the market... there are 2/. Articles covering several 100 times increased batt. capacity and 'unlimited' recharges which are limited to a few hundred thousand charges.. so if plastic solves solar power we're all set to go. now its just waiting for goverment to bring in solar usage taxes...
To measure the metrics you specified meaningfully, without wasting time over analyzing you should look up Process Behavior Analysis.
Its a simple yet complex way of measuring any metrics over a long period of time, allowing you to apply concepts like `Continual Improvement` to those metrics to get them to where you want. Other metrics could be per productive hour, Backlog,if you have Sev1,2,3,... and you have targets, measure % Sev1,2,3 resolved out of criteria, if you do changes, measure %failed changes, or measure the types (e.g HW failure) of work coming in to explain certain deviations in your other metrics,etc... hope this puts you on the right track
A great initiative it is indeed, but what about all of us that do not have consistent time to spend on a course even though we would love to follow it. even if that means not receiving the note from the teacher to say you passed this course in such and so way... still being allowed to take the exams for your own interest, I know for a fact that I don't have 8 hours a week for homework, but could sqeez out 3 maybe 4 if I push it (and of course there will be the occasional week-end 8 hour marathon run), these courses could as a next step be provided as open lectures without time limitation?
Even Better...
I in many searches can find what I need from google's brief content summary, like e.g. phone numbers, exchange rates, in rare cases calculator results, etc...
Which would make this research completely useless, if you find what you need on the search page, why click to go into the website...
Malware will always go where to biggest market share is...
Apple won't be safe from it, antho I think (unsure) they have a much stricter app approval process?
Dear valued customer, we regret that the browser you are using does not adhere to web standards and is not capable of handling all the great things this website has to offer, May we advise you to download a browser instead of an explorer. Any choice will do really as it seems that only Microsoft is incompetent enough to adhere to world wide web standards. we suggest a browser like Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari. This will not only greatly improve your internet experience but will also protect you against allot of Virus & Malware treats. We hope to see you again soon with a browser of your choice. if you continue browsing on this page with your current browser you may experience incorrect page behaviour.
maybe leave some of the anti microsoft speak out of it but you get the pickture
it was AGAIN penetrated with an allegedly similar attack.
This is not true, The secondary attack was just resetting passwords from users that did not reset their password yet, made possible by the data stolen (email & date of birth) from PSN hack earlier. I saw this comming the second I read sony would force every user to change their password on first logon.
Revolution needs to start somewhere, If we (web developers) don't do anything about it, it will never change. I was able to convince my employer to drop support for IE6&7 , and I urge every developer out there to do the same. I'm convinced that if you show a message to the user saying you dropped support due to lack of security and capabilities and present them with another browser that will improve their experience (even if that is IE9) & this being done collectively we can finally rid this world of IE6. Oh and I believe examples should be taken from Chrome on their update behaviour, it would solve many malware/virus/etc... issues, most users don't like updating their browser+plugins when they start up their browser! when I start it up that means I need information, not an update so I close the update screen and maybe i'll do it a bit later already leaving me exposed for the time being...
It's much easier to beat the acid 3 Test when you have the guy who developed it working for you.... not saying they didn't do a great job though, It's still my browser of choice as a web developer
You clearly have no idea what casandra is able to do with those columns.
I suggest that you read the article as posted before and do your research before making a fool of yourself with comments like that
Limit Repo's to trusted RA certs and make it unbearably difficult for non-technical users to add self signed certs to a trusted list (specific to repo's maybe)
none technical click-happy users should be protected from themselves with force and I don't see any problem with limiting repo's to trusted RA's, which kicks the ball into repo owners to get trusted certs before they can get their repo exposed...
I'm a bit baffled by this news.... Last time I checked I found this about PLEX on the official website:
30 Day Concord Pilot License Extensions
What is a Pilot License Extension and how does it work?
What is PLEX?
A Pilot License Extension (PLEX) is an item that adds 30 days of game time to your EVE Online account. It can be converted from any game time code and, like any other item, it can be traded on the EVE market. Please keep in mind that PLEX cannot be moved between stations.

It should be pointed out that only users of Facebook and 'Adobe Flash` running on Microsoft are suseptable to this vulnerability.
If these users don't already by default black plug-ins from running, but then again I would think those are the users that do not click random links
