Why another digital format? Wouldn't it be just as easy or easier to just put in a small tcp stack and rj45 port? Gigabit should be more than enough to move HD tv over cat6 cable or fiber cable. Why do we need yet another digital cable? A built in hub, IPv6 and a basic standard on how to identify components would be all you would need.
exactly even if Bush's plan was aweful and unfixable it was less so of each than the current system, and it would have given people ownership. Otherwise we are just betting that the next round of polititians will make the right decisions. Doesn't matter which side you root for that is a scary thought.
even if you have the dvds set it up to record anyway. Then at night before you go to bed hit play on each one. Let it run all the way through with comercials playing. It just may skew the PVR ratings of the show enough to make programs like firefly more likely to show up in the future.
You are absolutly right. Buying a newspaper doesn't pay for the newspaper. It is only a disincentive to take one and not read it. You are more likly to read it if you spent $.75 or $1.00 on the paper than if you were just to pick up a stack of 10 freebies. This gets them more eyes on sending out less papers than it would for them to send out far more papers for free.
Those that don't understand economics are doomed to hate the world.
Bush's social security reform was shot down mearly because it was "Bush's social security reform" It was nothing but good for a broken system. You even see Democrats cheering that they shot it down. Not that they fixed anything just that they were able to make it not pass out of pure spite for GWB. With all the crap that GWB does, he has one decent plan and the Dems shot it down. No I'm not bitter.
Yea, the biggest problem this faces is not the cost of making the nano tubes, but the cost to license music that will last 72 hours and not drive people nuts. Once Nasa Engineer was quoted saying "It's easy in a short elevator ride of less than a minute. Most people can handle even the worst music for that log. A ride into space will have to have good music." Of the 900 Trillion estimate for the project more than 75% is in license fees to the RIAA.
The same way my boss got called to HR after he and I had a conversation about Black Holes after a post on slashdot a couple of years ago.
Apparently an African American within earshot thought this was racist. In the end it was all dropped, but me having to go to HR and be asked questions about a geeky non work related conversation that was accusing a good friend of being a racist was enough to shy me away from talking about much of anything at work.
As a systems admin and a long time Linux exclusive user I bought a Macbook pro. OSX is nice. Still has that comercial stink about it and there are many places that it falls short of the seemless everything works out of the box stuff that apple seems to tout. But over all it is, I'd say, well above average.
I have to agree with what you have said though. I use OSX not because I like it all that much, but because I don't want to go through the work of repartitioning and installing Linux on my Macbook. Over the past 3 months I have installed over 1000 Linux boxes and don't really want to work on another one. (Yes I am building out a large scale data center)
Now everytime I sit in front of my Desktop I really start to miss it. I'm sure eventually I'll get linux put on here, but for now I am going to go ahead and stick with OSX. Who knows maybe with Lepord I'll really start to enjoy it.
"It's going to support the 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards, have a 30GB hard drive, support music, movies, and photos, and have a 3-inch screen. Is this finally enough to unseat Apple?"
And with a standard battery it will last 6 minutes so you can get in one complete song.
"They talk in circles and can't provide any definite explanations as to how something like this would work."
The circular motion of their talking is what generates the energy. They claim they can talk for ever for free without actually doing anything.
They aren't looking for investors are they? I don't think I would want to invest in a product that they were giving away for free. Unless they were going to charge for support that is.
Compared to a CRT of equal size? You have got to be kidding. My 37" LCDs I can easyly move around my self. My old 35" CRT was a two person job just to get behind it.
yes, but very left leaning libertarian.
Yea, not only that but only looking for change and Not looking for a good president.
yea, just like the liquor store when they say "We have to sell Gueniss to stay cool, we have to sell Bud Light to stay in business."

I've never known anyone as a rater either. Has anyone here on slashot ever even known someone as a rater?

All that and we still don't give a shit about Canada.
That is a really freaking heavy car.

I would, but someone stole my bike. I was going to exchange my game currency for real money and buy a new bike, but now someone ripped off that too.
How about this diffrence, A virtual murder no one is actually killed. Quite often a virtual scam, real money can be lost.
Just something to think about.

What if you're all going out to have group sex?

Just my experience.
Yea, I guess it takes people living on top of each other to get them to stop living on top of eachother.

Yeppie, those who don't use Unix are doomed to reinvent it poorly. Soon we'll have X11 over a web browser. Yeaa!

"Don't worry, we're going to give the energy away for free but we'll make up for it in volume."
They would have to be even more "not-too-smart" then the average greedy venture capitalist investor.
