One persons strenght is anothers weekness. I see it much more of a Linux strenth. The ability to upgrade only what is needed. Install only what is needed. It sure makes upgrades a lot less painful. You can also upgrade parts at a time over time with a simple apt-get update/upgrade or up2date.
Upgradeing to sp2 or sp3 or sp4.5b1 or spA5G or sp1138 or what ever various degree of patches upgrades and service packs makes it much more difficult.
I can see the possibility of me getting 3 maybe 4 PS3s because of this. I'd move all my standard server applications (mythtv, apache, mysql, etc..) to a seperate standard PC and use a PS3 for everything else.
Games under linux would no longer be needed. It's a console and already plays games. It should be more than fast enough to run mythfrontend and gnome desktops. I'd also replace the PC in my Arcade cabinet with one running Advancemame.
