    McAfee's Virusscan Enterprise 8.5 beta also runs on vista. Its not stopping them from making a product. They just seem to want to have a kernel-mode scanner like they did in previous versions.

    You are correct if you all sign up for free world dialup you can use 5 digit "phone numbers" instead of IP addresses. This version of the device has two service lines so you can put to register with freeworld dialup and one with another voip provider. I have mine setup with Stanaphone a prepaid VoIP provider so I can make regular calls by pushing # then areacode+number. The # is programable to be anything you wanted it could be 9+number if you wanted.

    Anyway thats my 2c.

    You could buy a box like SPA-1001 sign up for FreeworldDialup and have the same thing. Plus you can enable IP dialing if you so wish.

    I have one of these devices at my house connected to Freeworlddialup. My sister that is away at college calls from her dorm room with her computer using a Softphone. It works pretty good.

    Both Comcast and my dial up ISP let me relay email if I first login with SMTP-AUTH. Now my university doesn't but thats just because the network admin insists on having the CISCO PIX smtp-fixup turned on which doesn't allow ESMTP to communicate.

    The cisco wireless people came and talked to us at work. They made sure the menioned that all their hardware had an ASIC just for doing AES encryption so it would be fast. They talked about it being in their AP's though. He also made mention that they would be software upgradeable to support 802.11i when it was aproved. It seems they also said that it was also in beta firmware also.

    I have setup a PVR on a EPIA 800, 120Gig HD, WinTV PVR-350 from Hauppauge (TV-OUT/IN). I don't use the EPIA's built in TV-OUT. The PVR-350's TV out works alot better. I love my box.

    The Code Book details the how the Poles cracked the enigma pryor to the war. Then shipped off two of the machines one to France and one to Britian a month before they were invaded. Its a pretty good book. Thats not the only thing the book is about the it devotes about 3 chapters to it.

    It also states there were more than one time where they captured code books and enigmas. Infact the capturing of codebooks was almost continous through out the war it sounded like.

    To run PostgrSQL on Windows you will either have to install cygwin first - Cygwin comes with a postgreSQL package - that or purchase it from DBexperts.

    Yes the Satellite may have Infared on it but it also has Lidar which is Laser Radar. My local university has a lidar setup (or the green beam as its called around here). See the Utah State University link below.

    Its used for atmospheric observations.

    I know the Gentoo start up scripts can do this. Well I take that back I don't know if they actually do it. But they have a setting for it. As you can see mine is off at the moment.

    Ummm, Think again. Until Columbia we have not had any fatalities on reentry or in space. While Russians on the other hand have one rocket blow up on the launch pad killing 50, and two kill people on rentry.

    While we on the other hand have had the Apollo 1 fire, Challenger, and Columbia. So I guess our track records are about the same.

    Funny part about what you suggest is that geocacheing caused a little problem here in Northern Utah around the start of the war in Iraq. Some one saw a geocacher leave a toolbox under an overpass near Hill Air Force Base here in Clearfield, UT. The brought bomb squads in thinking it was somthing like that. It caused a little bit of a backup on the freeway that day.

    But hey that could happen with anything. Just thought it would be an interesting note.

    I think the Max distance of FW 800 is 100 Meters with fiber cabling. Don't hold me too that though.

    ok, I did a little googleing and found the specifics. So all you out there with Mac Classics laying around you can push Command-Option-x-o and it will boot System 6.03, Finder 6.1x. I did it once years ago I was pretty impressed.

    Ya, I remember that. You held down Option-Apple at boot before the Happy Mac appeared and it would boot from it. I don't remember if it was the SE or the Classic either.

    I know if you are using Nero and W2K you can use Nero's BurnRights utility. This utility creates a group which you can put those whom you wish to have burn rights or for that matter you can give everyone burn rights. I don't have personal experience with XP but Ahead's site said that XP has the problem also.

    Ever thought of Bandwidth metering? Thats what the ISP I used to have did something like 12Gig's a week. They mainly did it so they could provide a good level of service to every one. If you wanted more gigs you could purchase more.

    Recently they just lifted the Download metering for weekend and night time. Pretty cool I think.

    For those college kids who can't afford a virus scanner f-prot is free for individual use. Only the DOS, Linux and BSD versions. Windows versions cost. But hey thats ok.

    Don't forget sometimes the failure can be caused by politics also. Challenger being one. The engineers told them not to fly, it was too cold but they did it anyway because of the teacher being on board.

    Although now the Shuttle Boosters are better than they were then because of that. Now they added an extra O-ring and put heaters on the joints.
