Maybe they are saving Ajax for another day.... In fact you may be giving the enemy ideas.
A small counterpoint: XMLHttpRequest, the base call behind al things AJAX, is MS-originated; but it has evolved from that, and it's a widely complied de-facto standard. In fact, IE8 accepts the non-MS variant.
I Completely agree that China is not a communist country, rather a semi Facist/capitalist (worst of both worlds
China has never been a Communist country, neither has Russia, Cuba Norkland, etc.
All these examples tried to go directly to communism from Feudal societies - none of them had gone through the vital stage of capitalism
It's kind of the Bolshevik's fault, they thought they could skip the stage - in fact that was one of the main difference with their 'rival' Marxist party the Mencheviks
Is there VPN software for Linux that doesn't require 40 hours of work and a PhD in CS in order to get up and running?
Nx server works pretty well and does the same function as vpn software it is also very easy to setup - it seems much faster than any vpn software I have used.
And if you want unlimited users without paying a license you can use Freenx... This is a bit more tricky to setup (slightly)..
VirtualBox is not ReactOS.
VirtualBox is Virtualization - you can assign disk space / a partition to an os and install it from linux - or run a linux distro from a windows os.
You can run (in my experience) any non 3d windows app - I haven't found anything that doesn't yet - however I have only used photoshop and a few other apps - I stopped using windows about 5 years ago and I have found my I.T life to be less stressful..
Although opensuse is a very nice distro it still suffers from package manager issues (in 11.1) they should change to apt and they would have a rocking distro...
Although I get your point the main difference between Aids/HIV is that your can't catch it just by being near one of 'the infected'.
Also the speed of transmission will be much faster so will the speed of death.
Just heard someone in Scotland is ill after getting back from Mexico - time to rebuild that wall........
Just to make sure my last post gave the right impression - I was also pointing out the same thing.
rootkits/virus's do exist - it is servers that are targeted - generally as they hold important information (linux servers are widespread also..) and they are infected by a vulnerability in the webserver rather than in the OS.
Linux desktop users are pretty safe due to both the design and the low usage. Also the amount of different versions of libraries, etc in each of the 100's of distribution would make it harder to target.
The worst security flaw I have seen in Linux was the splice (root access for normal user) bug.
My home setup is pretty secure - I run iptables rules which blocks all outgoing/incoming traffic except certain ports, I also connect through a Linux ipcop firewall/gateway with snort enabled.
No need for Norton here..
The difference is how linux gets rootkits.
It nearly all cases I have seen it is due to poor security/vulnerabilities in a web/ftp,etc server.
NOT from clicking on a random link / putting in a USB stick / just being on the internet.
I personally haven't ever seen a Linux desktop with a virus.
Windows spreads virus's in the same way AIDS spreads.
Well tor users will not be (much) affected (as long as the exit server is not U.K based).
We may as well get used to the speed drawback from Tor as soon it is the only way we will be able to have any privacy online....
There are some games however that run so much faster through wine that windows.
I can think of call of duty1/2 - max payne (1) - Civilization 4
Personally the amount of games of windows isn't enough for me to want to go back to the hell that is windows...
One way of preventing Bird Flu .....

Seeing those screen shots make me think of one thing - Amiga ..
Right thats it - i'm going to play rocket ranger tonight and win the game (been trying to win it for 2 decades now)
Surely will not be as fun as

The concept sounds fun - for about 10 minutes...

American's who are unaware of such things should lose their right to vote.
My Guess is that most un-educated ignorant people would be voting for the Republicans anyway so there would be no major loss...
One of the best surprises I have seen in a game is the shot em up section of Turrican 2.
Aside from being one of the best platformers ever suddenly you are playing an amazing r-type style game that was one of the quickest ever.
Maybe if cannabis was legalized then people wouldn't been offered meth by their drug dealers....
sorry - I do get your point now. There is no 'legal' free way.

Is it Steve Ballmer?
I mean in terms of packages i.e old gnome/kde/kernel (that will not run a lot of newer hardware) = bad for desktop.
Not sure about anyone else but anything redhat based seems pretty poor as a desktop.
Fedora - supported for about 10 minutes (maybe a bit longer)
Centos - as old as the hills.
Enterprise - As if i'd pay for desktop linux ! (when there are much better free options)
Ubuntu/opensuse even Arch linux make better desktops in my opinion...
What are these license's that you talk of? Shall I check all my Ubuntu desktops have one?
How many of the botnet'd machines were running linux ?

you could always use a system where you dont need norton.
