I do agree that its a nice thing to not have to upgrade your video card every six months....
I wanted to add one thing though.
Another reason the developers have stopped pushing hardware so hard is that if your game will only run on the latest video card then your sales will be fairly limited for a while until the top end becomes main stream.
I believe thats one reason WoW sells so well, you can run it on practically anything sold in stores these days.
This reminds me exactly of the stories about consoles killing off PC gaming.
I doubt cell phones will kill many of those things off.
I agree with land line phones in the home, unless some one needs to fax something but I suspect those online fax services will get more popular to pick up the slack.
The rest of the stuff would have already happened if it was going too (with the exception of gaming)
Now I am not saying that 99.9999% of the people who mod a 360 do not do it for the purpose of piracy, but there are people who do like to mod things to do things besides piracy.
I think most people have taped a show from the radio on a cassette tape back in the day to listen to on a walkman when they did not have built in FM tuners.... I feel so old now.
This is one of those patents that is almost like "I now patent the act of scheduling"
GetRight omg I remember that program back in the old days when I used dial up.... I think it may be older then 10 years?
I thought so here is some interesting info for people into remembering the good old days:) This program saved my butt so many times back then since I was on both Dial up and Windows 95 or 98 and both where somewhat unstable lol
I also agree that more programs should support resumed downloads.
That is one handy feature of opera it can not only resume downloads but if you do not clear it out of the cue and you happen to delete the file (or its corrupt for what ever reason) you can redownload it with out having to find your download again.
I agree it should be in the package manager as a download.
I think the CD version should just be a bare bones OS with all your drivers and a few basic aps, the DVD version should be the deluxe model with all the bells and whistles.
That way for people who just want to add stuff later so they can pick and choose load a CD for people who want it all weather they use it not they can go DVD.
I know the market is so weird right now I just got a 4870 with 1GB of GDDR5 for close to $150, I know its not under $100 but its worth the extra bit of scratch to know I can actually play some games.
To me the low end cards almost seem like a waste of money they are not fast enough to play the newest games at a good quality and if they do they will not play next years games (while a top end one can at least limp along for a few years) I guess my opinion would be buy one of these cards every year or buy one that costs twice as much and get two to three years of use out it.
I probably am not the target of these cards though, maybe Grandma just likes her screen saver fish to swim smooth.....
Seeing these makes me wonder if that perhaps Einstein would have been inspired. I know these are just graphical representations and that particle interactions and DNA and things like that are far more complex but it does make one wonder.
That with the correct formula a seed number (big bang) would lead to a universe where one could scale time out zoom in and see life evolve on some little spec of dust floating near a point of light.
Of course the amount of calculations would be fantastic and far beyond anything I can imagine.
Maybe some sort of time compressed computer using tachyon quantum gates so that the calculations could be carried out before you asked the question lol (too many Scifi movies for me sorry to all the physics majors out there collectively either laughing at me or looking for some rope to string me up from the closest tree by my toes)
Would have to be buried at the bottom of a black hole lol
I think I remember reading some where that to simulate the universe would require a computer with more matter in it then the universe actually contains. This made sense to me since emulation requires hardware more powerful then the original.
I remember so many different versions of Win nuke... lol
My dim memory of the day is telling me MS patched the first version of it so some one released a version of it that worked on patched machines, then MS had to go and ruin all the fun by totally fixing it.
This is always annoyed me when they interview scientist for shows about earth impactors.... "You can't just hit it with a missile it would break apart and hit the earth like a shot gun blast"
I agree the larger surface area would be a great benefit to any sort of impact.
Its like an adblock for your whole system, works with every browser and to top it off it ads a little nastyware protection (not quite as useful under Linux but the ad removal still works)
I rarely see an ad and when I do thats when I know its time to update that file.
I should probably make the disclaimer that I am an Opera user with a side of Firefox.
Linux its like a swiss army knife it does everything but always seems to be too complex or lacks something you want but its free!
OSX its sort of like a more expensive swiss army knife only its missing the tooth pick but its gold plated!
Windows its the rusty tool box it has everything you want to do the job but you may need to do some digging to find the right tool and sometimes finding the right tool takes forever but it does do the job and its useful for almost all jobs.
Slitaz Linux is my favorite these days for older hardware and the requirements are modest to say the least.
This will not apply to your situation but I installed it on a machine with 256MB's and I can run Opera use youtube and do all kinds of things on this machine, Ubuntu would run but it ran like molasses on a cold day....
I believe they go 5-8 hours on a charge at least thats what I get out of mine and its not a new unit and has seen much use...
I also watch movies on mine so that may kill my battery faster but who knows for sure.

"Also IIRC it is difficult to get a stable Lunar orbit, due to both the Earth being nearby and the Moon not being of uniform density."
So there could potentially be huge caverns on the moon? enough to make a difference in the amount of gravity? Now that sounds like a reason to go back to the moon!!! I am sure they will not be as interesting as caves here on earth (or they could be cooler in a different way I guess)
I am excited about the Moon again now:) hmmmm who's going next? I heard something about a Chinese mission maybe they will find something cool.
Too bad some one couldn't invent MRI for planets (I do not really understand MRI tech but it would be cool if they could do it lol)
Thats why I always recommend 7zip its great and will work on 99% of the compressed files you run into on the net. Also its free so no one is out any money except maybe WinZip since people may have actually bought it until they try the free alternative and like it.
Same reason I use Open Office its free and does (for me at least) 100% of MS Office would do.
Games/Movies/Music are the one exception where its difficult to find a free alternatives. (not impossible just difficult, well radio and TV are easy but commercials pay for that so is it really free?)
"I go on a few sites and see what other people thought of the game, I have absolutely no urge to TRY the game to determine if there's a good chance I'll like it or not. Reading 10 reviews and watching a video takes a hell of a lot less effort than pirating the whole damn thing (what, and then buying the game to put on your shelf? Or do you plan on uninstalling the pirate version and installing the legit one over it?)."
This used to be a great way to filter out what was a good game and a bad game but some company some where got the great idea that if they paid a few people to go around posting great reviews and testimonials that sales would go up...and they did. Video proves almost nothing as most people have went to see a movie where they show all the good parts on TV in a commercial but the movie turned out to be a real stinker (I still fall for that one unfortunately if its a science fiction movie... my one true weakness lol)
About uninstalling a pirated version to install a clean copy.... sure it makes getting updates a ton easier and if you don't mind starforce or securerom being on your machine its not a big deal (both of these have gotten a ton better then they used to be since at one time even I cracked games I bought to keep this software off my system) also makes playing online a lot easier too:)
Then there is the feel good factor!!! Being honest feels better then being not honest!!!
But all this matters not to me since Dungeons and Dragons Online is free and its about the only game I have time for these days.
Use a USB or PS2 key logging dongle to grab the passwords.... Finger print scanners are not really reliable from what I understand.
This is why the best security is physical security and limiting access to you hardware.
Especially when one considers the number of computers that will be running this OS.
Even if it only saves half a watt, thats half watt times how ever many PC's will be running 7 over the years and thats allot.
I too was sad to find out SC was glitched:( I picked it up at a second hand shop for like 2$ went and registered it on my bnet account and got BW for free!!!! Then I was disappointed to see that it would work but the colors.... I felt like I was tripping out man! I was how ever happy to see that Diablo 2 and LOD work just fine:) Every other game I have thrown at it works just fine.... The problem he may be having is with Comodo Firewall;) I had the same issue where the only game I could seem to play was Far Cry 2! Then I turned off the software Defence+ (It blocks software from running in this case... supposed to just block the bad guys but in 7 it breaks things)
I am in the same boat, so far I like DDO better then WoW. To me at least WoW was at points too cartoony for my tastes. I had hoped blizzard would make Diablo 3 like WoW but darker. I do not know how long DDO will last me but even if I only play for two weeks I am out nothing but some time its a no lose situation lol

There is all kinds of homebrew on the 360.

This story has made me depressed.

It makes me laugh every time.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-L-0s-7-Z0&feature=related
and no its not a Rickroll lol PC vs Mac vs Linux video's are almost always funny :)
I use the hosts file found at http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

I believe the sayings "A fool and his money are soon parted" or "There is a sucker born every minute and two to take him" pretty much covers that.
I like to think of all OS's as tools too.
To me this is how it looks.
Linux its like a swiss army knife it does everything but always seems to be too complex or lacks something you want but its free!

I think this may be what you are looking for...
You can install it from a floppy and it will run in 24MB's of RAM.
Pretty modern and lite.

Who is this we?
Do you have some sort of multiple personality disorder?
I guess your collective has no sense of humor "Your sense of comedy will be assimilated, resistance is futile, clowns are irrelevant"
Hehehehe too fun :)
So they finally found out where Osama has been hiding....
A cave on the moon!!! That bastard probably runs around calling it a "Death Star"
Sorry its early in the morning for me and I am a bit loopy :)
