This is a good thing. If you can use the flaw to root your phone, then so could someone else. But then that would be a less sensationalist article.
How can you expect to get page views and clicks by having boring, non controversial titles??? How is CmdrTaco supposed to feed his kids if you guys don't read the stories and see ads??? Won't someone please think of the children???!!!
You didn't pay to use the data on something other than the phone, you paid for unlimited data for use on your phone. It may be a retarded distinction, but thats what you paid for. You jailbroke it so you could steal something you did not pay for.
You can call it any number of things but you're just a simple thief, and apparently one who isn't even capable of finding an untethered jailbreak.
And you are ignorant. Only US carriers like AT&T charge extra for such things like tethering. No where else in the world do the phone companies charge for tethering, even on iPhones (see numerous posts below). It is greedy phone companies like AT&T. So by the world standard, yes we did pay for unlimited, no matter how we use it and you are wrong.
Not just that... now that you're on an Android platform, you don't need to synch your contacts across phones as long as you are moving to an Android phone. You turn the phone on, plug in your Google account details, and there's all your contacts, calendar, your email is set up, etc.. You can also log in to GMail or Google Calendar and modify it all directly from a PC. That is one thing that iOS and Blackberry are both sorely lacking.
That is incorrect, it's called Google Sync. I have an iPhone and use Google services exclusively and they are all integrated into my phone.

Bee Keeper #2:"You see, bees usually make a lot of noise, NO NOISE, suggests no bees." Bee Keeper #1::: "Oh, I understand now. Oh look, there goes one." Bee Keeper #2: "To the bee-mobile!" “We explained that we are astronomers, but the local police commander approached so to be sure that we are not terrorists and that our telescope had no military application and it is not a rocket launcher. We invited him to watch M4 Star Cluster, but he didn’t like it and said that his own binocular is more powerful.
And he could have been right. Take any cheap beginner telescope that parents will get for their kids (likely what is available in Afghanistan) and 8 out of 10 times a simple pair of binoculars will be better suited as well as not as frustrating to use on the likely cheap mount with the scope.
While looking at the M4 with my 13" dobsonian is nice, many times for general viewing, especially for others, guests, and novices, a good pair of binocs are better.
What "feels wrong" to me is all these people that don't think the world is watching whatever they put online. If you don't want damaging info about you online, then don't post it. Granted others can and that is where tagging has some issues but as your mother should have told you: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
"but how many times have you needed to get a physical disc for that oddball movie"
Oddball Movie? Most of their tier 1 movies are still only available via disk. Look at their top 100 list and notice the handfull that are available via streaming. Let alone the ones that were available and are now taken back to disk only.
I love Netflix, but they are pushing it if they think approaching basic cable prices can be justified. They are one of the reasons I dropped cable.
Easy way to get grandparents to switch is to only post pictures of the grandchildren on Google+. They will switch over.
Also, WTH does "gate twitter and Facebook" mean?
If I'm not mistaken, G+ already has this. When you add someone to your circle and they are not yet a G+ user, you can select the option to "Also email x people that are not yet using Google+." when submitting the post. There is no need for them to join as you could send to their facebook email or other. This is great as it's a more open platform and you don't have to join if you don't want to.
Kid's grandparents means he shares photos of his kids and either his parents or his wife's parents depend on Facebook to see new photos of them.
And if they don't join G+ he can still add them to his circle and they will be set to "sharing via email only". So they will still get all his pics/posts in the circle they are.
So, honest question. Say we cut back "military spending" which is basically a jobs program. Say we just cut back on a platform. Where are those people going to go to work then? Those companies that make the military equipment will have to lay off. What about all the business around bases and such that depend on those people? Say we just cut back on personnel. same questions. Our economy can only absorb and support so many jobs.
So while I certainly agree that our military is too large by far, it's not a simple black and white answer. Ask any town that's been affected BRAC decisions. On the economy as a whole, that was just moving jobs for the most part, not actual elimination which is what's needed.
Considering we went from losing hundreds of thousands of jobs every month under Bush, to adding jobs every month under Obama, I'd say he's done a damn good job fixing the damage. If you were expecting those jobs to magically reappear over night, you're deluded.
And what specific measurable things has the office of the president (any president) actually done that affected the "adding" of jobs? I give credit where it's due but this is not one of them. The only current adding of jobs and their more correct term "saved jobs" is so ambiguous as to be meaningless.
Yeah, I've never really understood this about the NE. It is beautiful even if the winters are a little longer/harsher. But even on the east coast the population is pretty sparse in places. I wouldn't mind Vermont one bit and loved my vacation to your lovely state a couple years ago.
I don't understand your post. FB does indeed have these groups. You can setup individual groups and add who you want to them just like "Circles" in Google+. Then when posting you can simply select the lock icon drop arrow and only post to that group (so they can see) or post so only they can't see. What Google+ has done is to just make that selection the default instead of an option. It is an improvement sure, but FB still has it readily and easily available with the same effort that Google+ has. G+ just has the greener pastures going for it right now (Sparks and Hangouts don't seem enough to pull people from FB).
How about a Google Classic page, just the little friendly box that we type our queries into, hit enter, and get our results. Nothing else.
Sounds like you are wasting effort already by going to the google.com search page. Why not just type it in either the search engine bar or super bar in FF/IE or the address bar in Chrome? There's no reason to go to Google.com with modern browsers.
Another option are services like PlayOn that stream it through your DNLA device over your wireless network. Works great for us and no need to buy Hulu+.
Do people still use Hulu? Haven't they figured out that it's a complete ripoff yet? Pay for a service that still inundates you with commercials? Yeah...fuck that.
Every program on Hulu is available with less stress and bullshit elsewhere on the net.
*Not legally. Which is why Hulu has gained the popularity it has.
Lots of questions about it still. Will there be a "kill switch" for law enforcement? If automated, how soon before we start seeing car bombs use this tech? What are the safety protocols in case of "LOOK OUT HERE COMES A TRUCK IN OUR LANE" type avoidance or even something like weather conditions. What kind of protections will the gov give to auto mfg's? If mandatory implementation to the point where it's always on, will performance and style still be the trend or will they become shoeboxes to get around in. And if so, will car pooling become more widely used?
Dr. Bob, I fear it is attitudes and chiropractors that have these kinds of "theories" that give chiropractic medicine a bad name. If you can point to journals or actual scientific studies which support these theories then I would be less inclined to dismiss. My brother is a chiropractor and so I am very familiar with what they can and can't do for you and how they can really help you. Health education and all is great and a part of it, but baseless statements with no documentation is not a way to promote the benefits of chiropractic medicine.
This same lack of gap is the reason your average power user who must choose between a MacBook Air and an iPad will automatically go with the MacBook (if you were to remove cost from the equation).
But cost isn't removed from the equation so this argument is meaningless. And who cares if the iPad isn't for "power users"? It's like saying plastic forks have no use for the "power eater" and so shouldn't be used.
I'm not saying I'm against tablets, or necessarily for netbooks. They just make more sense to someone like me.... That's the "sweet spot". But, tablet prices are so expensive, that only early adopters and those with large disposable incomes are really taking too them.
Says the guy that just advocated the Air over a much less expensive iPad (which is available sans wireless data plan). So the iPad isn't for "power users" like you, so what, why preach about it? You're trying to justify your opinion in declaring Tablets are not worth using, so no one should use them. You do know the majority of consumers are not power users?
The fact that only the iPad has had any real success is actually a bad sign for Apple. It is the exception that proves the rule. It shows that those who might go with a cheaper tablet just aren't, and are more apt to by a cheap smartphone. Why this is bad for Apple is that these are people speaking with their wallets saying, "It may be neat, but it's not something I can live without (like a phone), and not willing to shell out the extra money for (like a phone)." It puts the iPad in the position of the MacBook Air, which is to say that it will have a low market saturation, unlike the iPhone.
Possibly, but it does have a market, and with that market comes lots o' cash, which is the whole point. Personally, I'd like a tablet, a 10" one at least, otherwise it's like looking at a squashed netbook screen or even worse a tiny phone screen. Unless I'm working on my laptop, most of my computer usage is consumption with light input. Large screen tablets fit this niche very well.
To be fair, the "Religious Right" votes for the same people as those who want to do away with all social programs.
So much for loving thy neighbor.
When the bible talks about "loving thy neighbor" it's talking about the person actually doing it. Not some proxy, government pawn issuing coupons for cheese. Keep "loving thy neighbor" where it should be, in the hands of the populace close to the need, else the government will get to determine what "loving thy neighbor" means.
I'm guessing that, a big "if true", then they have more networks in their good graces than GoogleTV does which seems to have angered almost all of them and reduced its functionality and market demand.
Wouldn't it be better to get an app for smart TV's like Netflix, Pandora, and the other big streaming companies have and stay out of the crowded hardware market (unless blocked)? Unless they can do something truly innovative that is also beyond what a small add-on box can do, with none of the headaches involved in rolling such an effort out, then they should stick to stand alone devices. TV prices are already pretty competitive. I would not want to pay an extra grand for a TV just b/c it had an apple logo on it and had AppleTV built in.
Forget smell-o-vision, where's my microwave type device that cools food instead of heating it? They've been promising that for years. [insert flying car dreams here]
