I also won't be giving my 2 and 3 year olds electronic reading devices any time soon, but I'm quite happy to have them read picture books made from recyclable old trees.
Plus it's much easier/safer/cheaper to read a paperback in the bath than use a 200 Euro electronic reader;-)
Alternatively, you could say I was comparing an organisation less than 100 years old (Scientology today) to one that was over a 1000 years old (Catholic Church in the 12 Century). Besides, that was the heyday of the Catholic Church's power, so isn't it a good idea to steal a tried and proven method?;-)
But they are (as far as I'm aware), the only religion to insist that you have to pay in order to gain access to their sacred texts.
Well, I recall another religion that kept all its scared texts in a language that most of the population did not understand (Latin) and if you wanted to hear the texts you had to attend an organised reading on Sunday. And God help you if you didn't contribute your 10% tithe to the church.
In fact, in many countries you still have to pay a % of your tax to the church.
"The legislation is supposed to stop the sale of counterfeit and/or stolen music CDs"
if they are so worried about this, then get the record companies to print serial numbers on the CDs same as for electrical goods. Then they can be easily traced...
(Although, of course we know they aren't worried about their customers being robbed, they're worried about themselves not being able to rob their customers!)
While they don't mention the website's url a quick google for "school teacher rating" pulled up the right page.. a few links down and I was writing reviews for some of the poorest teachers I had ever experienced.
Strangely enough, I just visited ratemystudent.com and it seems your teachers have rated you one of the poorest students they have ever experienced.;-)
So when the EU finally forces Microsoft out completely, that will count as their choice. But when American companies can't sell "Feta" or "Cheddar" cheese, in America, we have a problem.
Well, cheddar isn't a protected name - it's regarded as generic. Although seeing the artificially coloured, yellow slices of chewy pap that passes for "cheddar" in the US, you might wish it was protected so at least you'd know you'd be getting a decent piece of cheese! Similarly, in Europe when you get feta cheese or parma ham you know you're getting a decent product and not a cheap rip-off. In the US, you could get feta cheese sprayed from a can and parma ham that has never seen a pig;-)
The only true solution to illegal aliens from central America sneaking into US is to make the central Americas better, so that they do not need to illegally immigrate.
Actually, there is a second solution that the USA is pursuing which is to make the uSA more like a corrupt Latin-American dictatorship with secret police, disappearing citizens and restricted press/reporting. After a few more years, the central Americans won't want to move to the USA because it will be worse than where they currently are!:-)
The French also have an effective space programme with a pretty good launcher (Ariane) - and it's killed far fewer people than the US space programme;-)

They then put them in another driving simulator where they were also perfectly safe and they drove worse than those who hadn't played the video game.
At not time did they put them in a situation where their driving may have had actual consequences to themselves or others, but they taught them it was fun and safe to drive recklessly in a video game and then put them in front of another video game? Why am I not suprised...?
yes you can. Hotmail has been around a lot longer than most other web-based, free email solutions and is perfectly adequate for day-to-day use, especially when you don't want to give out your private email address to all and sundry. Sure, gmail and others might be better now, but it's a pain in the rear to start giving people new email addresses and expect them to all change from using an old one. if you've been using one for years and it's served you well, why change?
Is this just slashdot-snobbery because Hotmail is now owned by Microsoft?;-)
Could I be forced to publish this code by some 3-d party?
Nope, but the Flatlanders might be able to force you to publish the code...

That's because in the UK, even the right wing conservatives are to the left of your supposedly left wing democrats.
Although strangely enough, our left wing new labour are to the right of our right wing conservatives.
I hope that clears it up for you.
