  3. As for being paid while you are treated, our health insurance short term / long term disability covered it. It topped up employment insurance which has a lower cap.

  4. Self interest is never moral. Morality is a sense of good and bad; that does not come into play if you are helping yourself because anything you do for you is good for you.

  5. Stocks are a gamble. That is no different than feeling sad for grandma that she lost all her money at the slot machines. You pay your money, you take your chances.

  6. My wife had cancer twice, she was in for surgery the next week both times with radiation and chemo starting as soon as she was recovered enough from the surgery. This is the basis for my praise of the medical system here. I would surely be bankrupt by now if I were in the US.

  7. I'd hazard a guess that it is French laws causing the problem in Quebec. They probably require all medical staff to speak French, so yeah, there will be less available.

  8. I've lived in two provinces, both had urgent care centers where 4h was considered a long wait. Specialists around 8 months. If you go to an emergency room for an actual emergency, around 2h on average. Didn't realize things were so bad in Quebec, I wouldn't live there if that was the case.

  9. I forgot to add to my comment, it feels like most of the problems with it could be solved but, bureaucracy tends to wreck things.

Canadian here. Most people love our health care system and will fight to keep it. Yes there are some downsides, like some longer waits. Yet people who really need it do get care immediately. It's not really as bad as the vocal minority make it sound. Don't just take my word for it.

  11. The sad part is, if making money can be called a "moral requirement", apparently it is more important than the truly moral cause of healing as many people as possible.

I think he means the fact that it becomes another thing to charge. Phones, and because they need to be made thin thin, a few battery packs we need to charge almost every night. Just got a new game console and to my dismay, now even game controllers charge via USB. I need a freaking 20 port USB hub as it is. Seeing as my corded headphones work just fine I don't need that extra thing to charge. Not to mention, all these things now all have finite lifetimes limited to the number of times you can charge the battery.

  19. Ok then if it's not a problem for them to up all their prices and they feel it won't hurt their bottom line in reduced sales, then I don't understand why they are even coming public about this now? Just raise prices when the tariff comes into affect and let the chips fall where they may.

Honest question, how many of you feel threatened by Canada? That was the excuse he used to put tariffs on Canadian imports. Canada is a national threat. Some loophole from the 1960's. Piss poor way to show everyone he doesn't want tariffs. Then he complains when Canada reciprocates.
