its clear there’s no impending “robot revolution” just about to displace millions of workers via automation. Like most things, fear and hype are fed by the ignorant

Human evolution is slower than the robotic one. They were easy to laugh at when it was just an arm on an assembly line; the equvilent of sticking your hand in a dark room and having to be precise. Whole lot of failure in setting them up and keeping them accurate.
Nowadays machine learning is giving them eyes. The arm can see what its doing. Humans like to think we're pretty clever individually but in reality we just build on what others have done before us. The vast majority are only valued as an arm connected to an eyeball.

And these arms and eyes don't need sleep, wages or sue for getting their arms lopped off.

  2. I applaud whoever took the founders mugshots, makes them all look like they themselves were forced to give this machine a body and just say they did it intentionally.

They mention tablets and phones. Those are locked down, consumer only focused devices with centralized 'stores' for software which is somewhat vetted and even then, the elevated privileges are heavily restricted. This means the devices works and rarely breaks.
Thats bad for learning. Give them a screen that is rooted or is just a PC. Tell them to go nuts, break shit and then learn how to fix it. The problem is not the screen, its the walled garden of being always told they're winning with terrible input controls and no opportunity to fail.

  9. because of the old wives' tale that weight loss starts in the kitchen and is 80% diet. It's a bloody lie that people use as an excuse for not getting off the couch.

Its not a lie. Exercise is terrible for weightloss, and kcal reduction does not result in significant muscle loss. When we were evolving, if any period of famine wiped out our only means of securing more kcal, we would have died out as a species years ago.
I'm glad you lost weight, but you did it in the most inefficient way possible.

  10. Total control over everything; this is far worse than your usual thin client. With those you could at least attempt some middle man sniffer, decrypt, reverse engineer something it was expecting and slowly build your own private server.
This is an abomination just like every non live streaming service and I hope it never prospers. Given the idiocy of the average user its sadly going still going to.

There are more systems than solar panels, like concentrated solar power. They are built so when the sun does set the power is still flowing.
