And a microwave is a closed system also, specifically designed to contain radiation so as to direct the maximum energy into food items. That's why it "only" needs 750 watts.;-)
I did a double blind test and picked 10 out of 10 correct comparing mp3 at 128 to 320 to wav, the difference was always obvious in every case. What do you expect? Even at 320, 75% if the encoded information is just gone. But I guess the whole issue really only matters to people to whom it matters. Most have never heard music played properly so they don't know the difference. Maybe ignorance is bliss in this case, hearing my college roomie's Quad setup in the 80s sent me on a very expensive and sometimes frustrating ride.
...if it stops the signal just before reaching the speakers. There's no way to stop anyone from grabbing the analog signal once it's out there. TFA didn't say where the signal was going to be stopped in the chain. If there's a switch right at the jack it's a simple matter to tap it. Depends on how you look at it. This DRM implemented in hardware at the digital level would be a Bad Thing, but the presence of an actual analog line level hidden signal would be merely an inconvenience.
I'm just sayin. Good luck with that, RIAA.
This is where you trade money for intelligence and/or diligence. Either you pay someone to do it or figure out how to do it yourself. If you're stupid AND poor, well, good luck with that.
Thank you. Also if one knows how to set up Windows correctly there are almost no problems other than usage issues like how to use programs. Windows is my bitch, it does what I want it to. Linux is my bitch too. I don't get why people blame operating systems. Don't like it, use another one, there's a few out there, most are free.
...and couldn't surf afterword. Borked Chrome too, but Firefox is OK. Hell if I know what happened. I'm still connected to the network, settings didn't change, but can't get out with IE8 or Chrome now. Windows rocks!;-)

There. I just knocked 'em.
In China? Out of 1.3 billion people? They have some catching up to do....
I'm Morgan Freeman.

It's still the coolest IP on the net.
A simple, carelessly worded question in normal conversation can render them speechless while the gears grind.
My boss does this to me every day.

"Willful helplessness" is about as good a description of stupidity as I have heard. Might also call it laziness.
...but after all this is /.
Plus- it's easier to say than "Google" Minus- it's not Google
Back to basics!

I do of course have Debian, Vector and DSL boxes, this is just fun time stuff.

Those artifacts are not due to the medium itself, they are due to the quality and speed of the transport.
There is a reason, it's called "professional headroom": http://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/297awsi/
True, ignorance can be bliss. My college roommate ruined me with Stax headphones and Quad speakers.
