I have some POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS tape. It's awesome. Draw some chalk outlines with loooots of "blood". Anyone actually walks through that, they deserve candy.
This year I kinda want to put up a BEWARE OF GORILLA sign, wear gorilla suit and scare the crap out of the kids.
Also I want to give out some chocolate covered espresso beans... but I've been advised not to do that.
Every time I call t-mobile customer service, I get English speakers. I just called them yesterday.
Also a bit of a different point, but many people in India are in fact 'native' English speakers, as English is one of the official languages in India. Half my family is from there, and they all speak English as a first language (among a few others). You probably mean people without a funny accent.
One of the things I/liked/ about Gimp was that I could move all the toolbars/whatever to the other monitors.
That said, I haven't used GIMP in a while now.
I started using GIMP back in... god. 1996? 1997? I'm not sure. Version 0.54 I think. I was always a "Who Needs Photoshop" kinda person.
Then I started getting more and more serious about photography. I'm not anywhere remotely CLOSE to being a pro, but I do love photography and take a TON of photos.
Last year I did a year-long photo-of-the-day project, and that's pretty much where GIMP (and, sadly, Linux) kinda fell apart for me.
The workflow of Bridge->ACR->Photoshop is just SO much more intuitive than Shotwell/whatever they're using today->UFRaw->Gimp. Shotwell is OK when you're not doing anything with it, really. UFRaw is nice but nowhere NEAR the quality of ACR (and neither are rawtherapee or whatever the other guy is called).
Then I got a wacom tablet and Linux/GIMP just couldn't handle it. Perhaps it's the triple-monitor setup, I haven't tried multiple-monitors with a wacom on a Mac, but it just would not work correctly. And even when I single-monitored it, it just does not work as "magic"ly well as it does on a Mac/Photoshop.
It Photoshop expensive? Well, kinda, but the student edition isn't really that pricy at all. If you're serious enough to spend money on a nice dSLR and nice lenses and a nice wacom tablet, you should be OK spending another $200 on Photoshop.
No, it's not for everyone. Yes, GIMP is just fine for a lot of people. But the more serious work you do, the less usable it becomes.
And I don't see why anyone would want to play games on their phone, even via HDMI on a TV. I don't think EITHER of these is in any way useful. I'm just saying using the phone as a controller would be somewhat cooler.
I love Terry Pratchett and his writing. I love how his writing -- which started out pretty good -- has got even better and deeper over the years.
From his books, and interviews, and essays, it's pretty obvious that he's a pretty smart person, and probably values his intellect and personality.
Like him, I'd be pretty damn terrified of losing that. There are a lot of things I could live with, but losing my mind, actually losing my mind, that is terrifying. I too would NOT want to go through years of.. really, not being myself, not really being a/person/ anymore.
It's a hellish concept, and it's not like you get better eventually. I seriously hope that if it ever comes to that I'd be able to end my life in a calm, comfortable and, above all, dignified manner of my OWN choosing, rather than be subjected to a literal fate worse than death.
Hell, if my DOG ever gets to a place where she can't really be herself and wouldn't be able to actually be happy, I'd be able to do that for her.
I certainly hope that Terry Pratchett, who's brought so much joy and happiness to so many people, will be able to leave this world in a comfortable, painless and dignified manner of his own choosing. He deserves it. Everyone does.
RMS actually contacted our local Linux LUG, and offered to come over and give a talk for us, for free, provided we rename our LUG explicitly have "GNU/Linux User's Group" in the title.
Most my computers are Linux machines, including my desktop.
My laptop is a Macbook Pro. Before that it was a Macbook, and before that it was a Powerbook.
I would not have TOUCHED a Mac if not for OS X, which is, essentially, UNIX.
I'm typing thins on my laptop right now. I currently have Firefox open, and an IM program, a VNC, and several terminals. One terminal is running Alpine on my desktop, one is doing an apt-get dist-upgrade on my media center, and one is setting up the new kernel/boot parameters for the network boot on my media server.
So, yes, people DO use the CLI in OS X, I'd say ESPECIALLY people who live in UNIX-land, but do also occasionally need to edit some video or process some photographs or record some audio.
Someone at SGI created that interface/after/ seeing it in the movie.
I remember using it. It was kinda neat. Honestly SGI had some graphic-based analysis tools that are unmatched to this day. They had an excellent network analyser that showed you, in a rotatable 3D graph, who exactly was doing what on your network and with which protocol. I used it to prove to my boss that SMB was chocking us.
I know fuel efficiency drops in the winter. Every car I've had so far would go down by 5-10mpg in the winter. But going from 45MPG to 20 is not really acceptable.

Does someone get paid specifically to come up with these names? I can't decide if they should be paid a lot more or be tarred and feathered.
I believe the correct term is GNU/CyanogenMod
I'm glad SOMEONE is picking up the slack and giving god glory by picketing at funerals.
Maybe once their done reglorifying god, he'll get off his ass and stop all these genocides and famines.
Oh yeah, that's true too. There are literally hundreds of semi-official languages spoken in India.
Every time I call t-mobile customer service, I get English speakers. I just called them yesterday.

That's it, I give up.
Ok, you're saying phone games are as good as console games. I say maybe consoles from 5 years ago. I still have zero interest in playing them.
As I said originally, I don't really think either of these is a 'good' idea.
Yeah, Angry Birds on a huge TV with a PS3 controller, that's just awesome cool fun.
I prefer to take a book on trips. I do a lot of things with my phone, but play games is not one of them.

Be more useful for me if I could use my Android phone AS a Sixaxis controller. Or at least a lot cooler.
That's a relief, I was worried it'd be a computer thing.
SGI used to have pictured of crying babies for their 404 pages.
I have random ones setup on my yaron.org site. Like http://www.yaron.org/thatdoesntexist/
Actually it seems to be getting IN hand.
Wouldn't it be easier to just ASK someone to pass the salt???

Heh.

That was pretty much unanimously rejected.
They refuse to call it "GNU/Israel".
2001 called??? Did you warn them about 9/11 and Katrina and Haiti and Japan????

I actually just had them install a block heater last week, which of course made it so the weather here warmed up so I can't tell if it's helping (;
And again, yeah, I'm hoping they do all that with the electrics because I /do/ want one.

I'm opposed to global warming.
I'm all for local warming, though.
