This article includes a picture of the label. I have seen it in stores, although I have never had it (too expensive in the US because of taxes/tariffs on foreign alcohol).
When referring to the champagne, 'Don' is a typo, as many people are familiar with the Spanish title, and as such easily confuse it with the very similar sounding Dom.

Gates subsedizing Apple (at the time quite inferior) was rediculous.....but w/out it there would be even more justification against MS monopolistic practices. If Real were to go away (please please go away) they would of course try to sue MS for trying to elbow them out of the market unfairly.
Yep, know exactly what the article is referring to. There's a scrolling box for 'we can market these things to you:' and by default none of the visible checkboxes are marked. However, if you actually scroll the box there are 5 (i think) options at the bottom of the list that are checked.

And this isn't just on installation, it happens if you fully open RealPlayer to change the stupid take-over-your-computer prefferences.
This is one (of the many) reasons why I don't install RealPlayer on any of my machines, and encourage friends to remove it from theirs. If sites don't have their downloadable content in an alternative format (QT, WM, MP3, Ogg, i don't care which) I just won't watch/listen to it.
I'm doing my part to force 'em out of business. Sure, they are providing competition for MS/Apple, but I find their business practices despicable.
from what i understand of the 'common carrier' clause in the recent Australian laws - it is not your duty to monitor/police your users and ensure they are following the law - it is their responsibility....just like if you are the contractor hired to build (and maintain) roads, it is not your duty to make sure the drivers are following the traffic rules
it conveys an image that I am stylish, that I value quality over other considerations such as cost and speed. That I think different
Sure....you keep telling yourself that you 'think different' - every other mac zealot thinks they 'think different' as well.
Its just like people who dress in goth - black leather, wierd hair, piercings, etc. They say they aren't buying into culture and being individualistic....so why do they all 'rebel' by doing the same thing??
i do plenty of things that max out system performance (i work in a computer graphics firm) even on the 4 different powerbooks we have (which aren't used as production machines)
i admit, the ibook has the best performance/price value of any laptop....however, compare the pricing on that top of the line PC laptop to a top of the line PowerBook......much better performance out of the PC, for the same price as the PowerBook
if you think there is a bias because of the carbo-cocoa problem (which is a problem for many mac apps) then do the same comparisson in 9.2.2 - you will get the same result, probably even slightly better since OSX is dog-slow compared to 9.2.2
that, and photoshop sells probably just as many mac copies as windows....and as such is actually optimized more for the mac platform then it is optomized for intel
Actually....having 4 different powerbooks in the office that i frequently have to do max-performance operations on....they do step down the speed of the chip when on battery
Guess what? All my company does is proffessional layout and photowork. We use Photoshop on all our machines.
Half of us use Macs (because of other software they need to use due to the drafting package the architecture firm we are associated with uses)
Half of us use PCs (because of other software we need to use for 3D rendering and animation, and compatibility with drafting packages from other architecture firms)
Now. Like I said, we do photowork and layout on both platforms. Both platforms are network printing to the same professional-level color printer. Guess what? We can make images look the same on print, display.....REGARDLESS of which machine we create them on.
Next time you go and babble about an industry and a use....make sure you actually know what you are talking about.

on the beige G3 towers the IDE cables weren't long enough to get to the lower bays, and running/replacing IDE cables was a complete bitch and a half - and this case didn't have the motherboard on a door, just the door and power supply easily folded out. the second major problem w/ the case was that you had to unplug stuff to open it. So youd pop in that new component, test it, and then have to shut down so you could unplug the power again and close the case back up
if there's no reason to not use higher frame rates, than why do monitors run at 60+ Hz? Personally, I notice enough monitor flicker at anything less than 72Hz that it becomes annoying.
And yes, I do produce video...untill final output production I typically use a sequence of TIFF or Targa files, one file per frame.
My mother is a CPA...hence she does lots and lots and lots of returns. When it comes to filling out family returns and such (which she knows all the loopholes for) she finds it much easier and faster to fly through TurboTax's wizard, than to fill out the form. And she can jump to the form view (which is what I understand TaxAct shows) if she wants to make any additional changes.
The Intuit PR rep is quoted as saying that people can install the software on multiple computers using the same activation code - the very thing that the activation process is supposed to prevent - so he is misquoted, misinformed, or lying.
No, you can install on another machine, you just can't print or file your return from that machine. Installation and printing are completely different things last I checked.
I think the idea here is that people will start using the Segway when they would normally walk the 1 block to the corner market. And plenty of people who now ride bikes might switch because its easier.....and then they'll start putting on the pounds.

Do you have any idea how much planes cost? Just having a LeerJet on a ready-to-fly lease (not ownership) costs about $1 million a year. A Boeing 737 costs about $50 million (list price). At $4 million, these are a comperably cheap solution.
In California, yes....in much of the rest of the world (such as the huge wheat fields of the midwest) - no, they rely on natural rainfall.
If you've ever taken a geology course, you'd know that soil holds a vast amount of moisture (the topsoil, not just down in wells). Plants recieve most of their moisture directly from the soil. Even though the plants can't directly absorb and store up the vast amounts of water that come from rainfall, snow, etc....the ground absorbs much of it, providing the wet stuff to the plants later.

Even if you ripped DVD's into VOB's ... you'd still need to rip over 100 to justify even 1 TB
Did you know that DVDs only have a resolution of 720x400 (16:9 proportions) and that the maximum resolution of HDTV is 1920x1080?
Thats 7.2 times as many pixels.....and we are still talking compressed data here (VOB is MPEG encoded).
If in the future we switch to uncompressed data (which would be a good thing) we are definately going to need TB drives.
And what if the industry decides to move to 60fps instead of the traditional 24fps for film and 30fps for TV? Double the frames, double the data.
Trust me, we'll need it.
I wasn't pointing out the coverup....I was one of the first responses, the coverup is from Michael reading my comment.
Maybe the subject was a bit harsh, but he accused the PR rep of lying, so....
And then to go and change his snide editor's comment without making a note of it....well thats pretty misleading as well.
