For you anti-ms people i have a question, a hypnotical really. If you had cancer and were on your death bed and "Satan" creates a cure for cancer, do you take it? Your only option is die or take the cure. But the devil made it... what do you do?
This should not be an emotional argument. Microsoft's format is unwieldy, and there is almost zero chance that anyone else will ever be able to implement it 100% - which calls into question anyone who labels it a "standard". And you are implying the people who don't agree with you religious fanatics?!?
No, just block port 25 to all servers other than the ISPs for dynamic IP addresses. If they do not want to use their ISPs mail server, they can purchase a static IP, or set up a proxy with a different port. If you are not capable of doing either of those things, then you should not have the privilege.

I don't read any hard-core-gamer-mags, but I wonder what there take on the Nintendo DS is?
With the opera browser, and all of the google apps available, this would be all the computer many households would need - if they could print. I wonder if it will support printing to ps devices on a network? (Yes, a wireless keyboard would be essential for some things, but that would have to be an easy accessory to create.)
What a run around Microsoft - I bet there are chairs flying today.
You don't understand the goal. (Most) Scientists do not want to create a clone of an entire person - rather the idea is to clone parts (e.g. organs such as the liver, heart, and lungs) so that people who need a transplant can get a clone of their own heart rather than trying to match something from a dead donor.
For an interesting perspective on the impact of life and culture in the future without the benefit of cloned organs - try reading some of Larry Nivens works. (I think Limits is the collection with the stories of a detective who goes after black market organ harvesters.)
quitcherbitchen: The summary: improvised explosives involve pretty nasty stuff that you'd be hard pressed to mix in an airplane lavatory without killing yourself in the process
For a suicide bomber, that's really not an issue.
A perfectly good format would be
1. Open two containers
2. Violently empty both containers into sink
3. Die from explosion
Amazon is showing October 2nd release date for a Wii game, Walmart is showing the same for Avatar: The Last Airbender Wii, Best Buy shows November 3rd for a few games... has Nintendo given a solid date yet?
Another option might be to make remote/computer controlled microplanes. If each plane only carried 5 - or even 25 people - there would not be as much incentive to destroying it. And it looks like the drone technology is actually pretty good, at least with military spy aircraft.
And I think it sounds pretty clear to you the difference between countries and cultures who mostly try, and those that actively oppose equality and human rights. Sure, the US, GB, France,... are not perfect - Mexico's not perfect either, but at least there is sincere attempts. If you look for a perfect system, well I will not call you naive - I think you are just being pedantic.
Great, so you oppose both the Islamic extremists, and the American neoconservatives wwho believe that Iraqi lives are worth less than those of Americans, and those Isrealis who beleive that Jews are a "chosen people". Right?
I certainly do. Fortunately the crazy jews are a minority, and not in charge of the Israeli government, and the racist's parties (e.g. David Duke's KKK, Black Panthers) are not terribly popular or powerful in the US. And thankfully the US has proved it is just as happy to use the Army to put kill it's own citizens who deny equal rights to others. Which is what they deserve.
So it's mostly the islamics who are a threat to civil society.
Pretty much every culture who is thankful to the British for the Magna Carta and have progressed beyond 13th century British culture and law. I don't think human rights are much of a hurdle, but let me know how your standards works out for you.
And don't forget equal rights for women also, that really pisses these islamic terrosists off also. Oh, and freedom of speach, making jokes about murderers like mohammed sends them frothing at the mouth also.
And before anyone calls me culturally insensitive, I have a simple rule - I don't respect any culture that does not give equal rights and protections to people irregardless of their sex, race, and age. Get rid of the burqa, and the honour killings, and then feel free to criticize me.
I do really love to see all of these Arab leaders begging for C. Rice to come save them from Israel though. I notice she tends to wear skirts to the meetings - really makes me happy!
Orrin Hatch has a decent challenger from what I hear - you (or anyone else) can vote to get his challenger extra campaign funds here. Vote for Pete Ashdown (UT) to get the campaign funds. (I'm a libertarian - but I'd vote for just about anyone or anything if it meant getting rid of Orrin Hatch.) Use an email address you can get rid of or filter, because it will go into their database.
Why do you think private companies are any better?
I don't - but thankfully they don't have the power and influence of the government. At one time perhaps they nearly did in the US - but the one thing the Progressives did right was to remove the power of the "Party Boss" by charging the government with the printing of generic ballots - see there are things that are proper for the government to do - it's just a very limited number of things.
At least the government is somewhat accountable.
Accountable to who? Oh yeah, the government. How silly of me to see a conflict of interest. I think what you tend to forget is that the "government" is really just a group of people with the same failures as any other group of people, only they (by definition) have a lot of power that they can abuse. That is why I believe it is best to severly limit their power and influence.
I have all the odd things happen to me with government paperwork. My application for confidential clearance came back granted with secret clearance. I pointed it out to my boss right away, and it would be funny if it was not one of many screwups. I really don't understand how liberals (I'm a libertarian) think any government is competent enough to [micro]manage anything - and even more so having worked for them in the past.
It's a quite different suggestion than an RBL list, reread the post.

I agree. They also left out Roberta's co-worker, Jane Jensen. (Writer of the Gabriel Knight series, also worked on King's Quest VI).
Everybody should want one!
No - Niven's book on organ harvesting is The Long Arm of Gil Hamilton

And maybe they are fans of what Larry Niven did with the idea.
Also, don't forget the Master of Orion video game - which has a fitting theme.
Oh, to be able to live on Mars....

My favorite painting of mohammed is by Salvador Dalí

Get ESR's "The Art of UNIX Programming" - or if cheap read it online. Chapter 7 might be a good place for you to start.
