  1. Before and after pictures: Cairo University on Iran Says It Has Detected Second Cyber Attack · · Score: 4, Informative

My mother who grew up in Tehran went to school, drove a Benz and who's mother ran the grocery store that my parents owned. Then the Shah was overthrown and my entire family (aunts/uncles/cousins etc) left for the US. The Ayatolla regressed 100 years of progress.

    An interesting pictorial:
Photographs of students at Cairo University. Pay special attention to the hairstyles/headdress that the women in the pictures have. In the first pictures, you could mistake this photo for any university in the mid 50s. While in 2004, you'd never confuse this for some university in the middle of Oklahoma.

These photos represent the gradual but steady Islamic radicalization invading the Middle East and the rest of the world in the last three decades. I lived in Egypt until the year 1978 and have never wore a head cover, neither did my mother or grandmother. And this is thanks to a feminist movement that started in Cairo in 1919 under the leadership of the famous Egyptian feminist Hoda Shaarawi.

Besides, the thought of having to stock paper towels and a hazardous spill cleanup kit next to every rack doesn't excite me...

How many vendors actually support this? If I called up IBM, HP, Cisco, and told them xyz failed and you shipped it back to them for RMA and it was "oily" do you think they'd not bill you for the part?

How do you deal with fibre connections to the equipment in the rack? I'm sure light travels without any significant dB loss when there's OIL between the optics and the cable...

Get rid of suburban sprawl by zoning more parks and greenways.

Hmm then you won't have any space in the cities for people to live. Plus as one of those that lives in suburbia, I like having a backyard to bbq in, grow a garden, throw a ball with my kid or sit on my patio watching the birds in my birdfeeder.

If I lived in an apartment/condo highrise, I won't have those aspects to the quality of my life. Sure there are rooftop gardens and community parks. But when you live in a highrise with a 1000 other people, how much space on the rooftop garden can you reasonably get? Btw, I also have windows on all four sides of my house, which is wonderful for the indoor plants without using grow lights.

Btw, what are the prices of a condo in NYC that overlook Central Park? I bet it's quite a bit more than my humble home in suburbia.

My company, a large IT_Company has their own publisher for employees to author books. However, this process would well over a year and would require me to submit my draft in msword, instead of Framemaker which is what I was writing it in. The publisher would then convert it from word into framemaker for use with their templates... I dealt with 4 different editors and decided to go the self-publishing route.

I used lulu.com, a 'on-demand' printing/publishing company. They charge a bit for each physical copy to cover printing/shipping/handling etc.. I was able to easily get an ISBN number, and then set a price for the book, which my profits get automatically deposited into a paypal account every month.

The book is listed on Amazon/BarnesnNoble/Borders/GoogleBooks etc...

The whole lulu.com effort took about 3 weeks, which most involved waiting for my proof copies to arrive (i didn't want to pay for expedited printing/shipping).

My next book isn't going through my companies publishing company either. I really have no interest in justifying when I think my 1500th copy will be sold.

Especially since I give away the .pdf for free and only charge for hard copies.
