never in my life have I had a consumer mobo bootloop like that. I must have built over 100 mobos in my career. never saw a bios level boot loop that would partially post, then hang, then the WD must have reset it and it starts all over again. never once loading a boot sector.
sometimes the interests of an amazon (etc) can be the same as mine.
what I can say is that anything the R's want, is NOT what I want. they are doing all they can to fuck the common person over and if allying with an amazon will help fight the evil R's, fine.

brand new server mobo, could not update bios, even ipmi runs fine but they don't let you do bios over ipmi unless you pay MORE. I wanted to but my store could not figure out how to sell that option to me!
mobo went back to shop since it went into a boot loop. its been OVER A MONTH NOW (more like two months) and still not fixed.
note, I bought this at central computers in mtn view (which I now have to say, gave me really shitty service and could not care less that our business is without this server grade board for way too long; brand new, too; and even inside 30 days, they would not do a board swap).
so, central computers is off my list (hey, if I bought it from amazon, I would have returned it and gotton another, no sweat; but central jerked me around, so I won't be buying from them anymore) and so is supermicro.
there is a reason our sysadmin told me not to go with them. I should have listened. horrible design and really bad customer service;(

I am a seasoned audio designer (circuits, firmware) and I would have been happy to work for them.
they blew me off. of course, in today's employment world, you never get a reason, so I can't really know what they were looking for in an employee for that group.
but suffice to say, I was -very- skilled and eager to work for them, and they passed.
so, it does not surprise me that they're behind the curve. they asked me all kinds of questions about how to design and test such a thing and I had answers for them, but they still declined to 'move forward' with the job, as they say.
and fwiw, the people I spoke with, there, were not really serious audio people, either. just regular software and hardware engineers, just doing a 9-5 job (I could tell, NO one was really enthusiastic about audio, overall; when I talked about audio and doing test measurement, they mostly didn't really care).
oh well. its not a product I'd buy, anyway; my own self-designed spkrs and amp and preamp (and dac and all that) are in a different level of performance than a 'single self-calibrating spkr with too much beamforming for its own good';)
the most popular things, from what I could tell (I was a member for several years) were the laser cutters. they never had enough spares to keep everyone happy, and yet so much other equip went idle most of the time.
I'd pay money to have access to JUST laser cutters, if they maintain them and they are industrial quality.
the 'real' laser cutters are still beyond home/hobby ownership. most other things can be garage-shed like, but not the lc's.
once I learned how to make decent diy boxes from lc plexiglass, labels etched and ink infilled, its life-changing for a diy geek like me. my 'box making' projects could pass for pro-made chassis and they cost lunch money to make. only expense was my time, really, and it was educational and fun.
hope something opens in the bay area to pick up the void that TS left. we had 3 shops in the bay area, more than any other, and still those lc's were busy most of the time. just give me lc access, screw the rest of the big tools!;)
