Took an online survey about a year ago from Nielsen , first thing it wanted to do was download some software, an exe IIRC. a no-go on linux. I tried the survey in a VM windows instance and of course the file down loaded. Never did try too hard to find out what the exe did, really didn't care that much, just reset the VM.
I have always assumed it was to measure my video viewing habits, but who knows?
I try to be sympathetic to windows users, and even try to help on occasion but I am slowly losing any semblance of a positive attitude. The "who cares about windows users" keeps getting stronger. I can't protect everybody from themselves.
Did the author just stumble on it or did someone tell him/her to identify which Vancouver? Vancouver Washington and Vancouver BC are close (sort of) but are not alike. Kind of makes a difference.
Why should they? If you get what you want with out the risk of a trial you are MUCH better off. Trials are risky, they do not always go as planned. As for a cooperative solution , much better (and cheaper) than an advisarial one. As for change , I hope not, they seem to be doing well.
Whoever wrote that has not set up a TV for a relative (or themselves in the future ) in an "Assisted living Facility". Channel change, on/off and volume are at the edge (and sometimes beyound ) the capabilities of these people. These are people who have trouble telling if it's 3:00 pm or am (the phone calls in the night tell me that). Days of the week and date are nebulous concepts.
Something as complicated as a cell phone is just a paper weight.
NB: Small remotes also disappear. They don't remember where they put them.
NB: as for the price of gasoline, it make little or no difference.
The price , as near as anyone can tell, if mostly determined by refinery run rates
in Washington.

Of course you would need an accurate clock and maybe a sextant?
As for the comment on "only 200 meters", that might not even be all the way to the other end of the ship.

Makes them useless. They don't get out their chairs that often , and
when they do they sometimes fall. Out of reach is the same as not having it.
The semi-solution is to have a remote too big to lose.
