  1. i'm curious.... on P4 2.2GHz Overclocked to 3.5GHz · · Score: 2, Interesting

the processor can only dissapate so much heat through the silicon/whatever and the heat sink. it seems that that is the weakest link, is the connection between the core and the sink itself. would the processor run cooler w/o the heatsink (as it is disapating heat into the liq nitrogen too, that is in turn cooling the core), or does it really need a heatsink at such absurdly low temps? i understand the need for higher surface area to heat ratio concept, but it seems like with temps as low as -250* F or so, that one wouldn't need that 2" square tubing of copper as a heatsink: just stir the liq nitrogen really well :)

as a side note, that site is entirely in japanese. when is babelfish gonna support japanese? all i got out of that was a picture of the boot screen saying 2250 that was undelined in red. i'd mirror it, but i don't see what you would get out of looking at a bunch of pictures that don't seem to support their claim.

Soft reboot, and presto, you're ready to go. Hopefully you won't blow a drive ; )
Also, you could turn on the computer with one HD, let it spin up, turn off momentarily, plug in second, let it spin up, turn off, plug in and turn on, ect ect....just make sure the drives don't have a chance to spin down completely, so you don't have to overcome the inertia of spinning up all those platters at once.

make sure the hard drives won't power down, if the computer came back from sleep mode, you'd probably blow the power supply after the third time ; )

the main advantage of propriatry is that you get to do whatever you want. by burning from the outside in, you start out with higher data-transfer rates, instead of only getting those by having the majority of the data on the inside tracks. this is why you see much faster load rates on the gamecube.

burning a gamecube dvd wouldn't be difficult, just tell the program to invert the ROM file, and add 1.2 gigs of 000's infront of it, or skip the first 3 hrs of play time.

i think that although the average american watches 2-3 hours a day more tv than i do, using the tv as your computer/'media station' in the livingroom dosn't give the user the same feeling of using his or her time wisely/well. when you use the computer in the office or study, you're not in the public domain of your livingroom, and are more at peace of mind that nobody;s looking over your shoulder as you send a private email or the likes. i think people would prefer to buy several cheap products that do their job very well, instead of an all-in-one device like this.
