I used CDex to rip Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime on XP and it was successful even though the CD was so scratched it wouldn't play in a normal CD player. Two thumbs way way up!
Schildt's are ok but Herb Sutter's Exceptional C++ and More Exceptional C++ are more along the lines of "ok, I think know C++, but do I know it".

Best reason to not boycott them is the Bacon game: http://www.cs.virginia.edu/oracle/. It's a great way to waste an afternoon waing on Iron Mountain to deliver tapes for a restore. And you don't even have to go to imdb unless you want to.
Don't forget to stock on on the DC-DC power convertors that 450's love to eat. We bought 6 or 7 completely stipped cases just to get the DC-DC convertors since it was cheaper that buying the convertors alone.
I agree completely. If I got a call saying "Stuart, you can ride on the next Shuttle mission, but you have a 1 in 50 chance of dying on it.", my response would be "When do I leave?".

Well, I know for a fact that this is a serious work built on PHP.
As long as you understand the limitations of PHP, it can be a very powerful language.
And Python is the stupidest language ever, white space as block delimiters? What happens when you cut and past from one windows that has tabs into another where the editor doesn't understand them?
I agree completely. I remember back when OS/2 Warp came out and we used it to run Windows 3.1 software(some 3rd party display program that overlaid text from scanners on TIFF's of boilerplate documents) because the app was more stable on OS/2 than 3.1 at the time. We kept asking for an OS/2 native app but never got it. Eventually 3.11 came out and, poof, no more need for OS/2.
No, what Linux need to become a prominent desktop OS is for a major VAR (Mike Dell, I'm talking to you) to start selling Linux-based desktops for a significant cost-savings over Windows XP.
I've been running W2K on DSL since 1998 or so and I've never been "pwned". And I definitely know I'd know about it, I used to do abuse work for an ISP. But then, I don't use IE or M$ Office.
Maybe or it could they simply wrote a good movie and had the sketchiest of ideas for 2 and 3. When 1 blew through the roof, the movie studio offered them ton o' cash to flesh out the other two and it shows.
http://www.iccomputing.com/ has to be the most annoying flash-ridden page in the history of the web. I wouldn't buy stuff from them just because of that.

Well, a quick look on everybody's favorite search engine reveals this http://conferences.oreillynet.com/cs/os2003/view/e _spkr/1627. It appears he works for Novell and is more of a manager than an hard-core programmer.
Whether he's as big a blowhard as ESR remains to be seen.
Um, I realize this is /. but did you actually read TFA? It actually comes across as very pro Linux, not the other way around.
God, you bloggers are such morons sometimes.
I agree:

Also, an AOL client would be very nice as well.
Where did you get this? I'd like to send to some extremely M$ biased friends of mine.
I agree completely. I'd much rather go here any time over some crowded city.

It's open source, fix the leak and submit a patch. :)
Perhaps you should look at INTC since that's actually Intel stock. And for the last 6 it's actually doing better than the Nasdaq.
How about the popular right-click "Save Link As..." that I've been using since Mozilla Gold 3.01?

I've never seen the movie, but the play is gripping.
Dating yourself, eh? I actually saw this movie in the theaters in '79 and it wasn't as bad as everybody makes it out to be.

Solaris isn't much better. The Solaris 9 recommended cluster is a 149.9 MB zip file. Go to the patch portal: http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=pat ches/patch-access to see how big they've gotten.
I have 49 and I'll let them go for $999 each. :)
You should have found a better job then. I made almost 9K the year I was a senior in college working as a dishwasher in a restaurant.
