I have found by unhappy experience, that if I give someone a pc with Windows on it, it will cause me trouble for ever. If I give someone a pc with Linux on it, a few learning hurdles and then my time is my own again.
We need one in Australia. Half the kids these days don't know to stop screeching like a galah, how to treat their china plate or when to hit the frog and toad.
Unfortunately that seems to be the way of a lot of science today. Carbon dating is another minefield that comes to mind. The current mindset seems to take on popular theory and interpret it as fact. The scarier and more apocolyptic, the better. Very post-modern. Anything that doesn't fit that 'fact' has a fight ahead to even get published.
Do you have clue about how many iPods exist on planet?
You actually prove my point. One of the few times Apple loosened up (by licensing a spec to 3rd party manufacturers), the basic quality and design of the product (here the ipod) is allowed to tramp all over the competition. Imagine what could have been in the sphere of personal computing if they'd allowed Mac clones to continue...
Apple will always use proprietary connectors etc. They're worse than Microsoft in regards to copyright and patents. If they'd loosened up 15yrs ago they could have beaten the pc as well as trampled whatever other market they chose to step into.
So... when can we expect the year of the L(inux)user?
After several years of the Linux schol student, office worker and Linux OEM retailer.
Same way Windows got where it is.

Forst Pist is missing from the Internet Meme Timeline.
There. Fixed that for you.
or, perhaps, fixing those pages comes to mind...
I'm all for standards compliance. People too lazy to change from IE just get what they deserve.
Personally, I don't publish anything to the web which isn't standards compliant. I just add IE hacks on top... That's the hard part...
If all webdevs followed the standards, Microsoft would have to make IE standards compliant.

...I seriously doubt it. There have been hopes of that for several releases...
There is blood. He was Royal...
Because it suggests the world is more than 6000 years old.
If this were the only point against carbon dating and other radio-dating methods I'd have kept my trap shut.

Tell your relatives (or friends) not to put up images of you online? Isn't that kinda like telling radical Muslims not to target Christians and Jews?
and there may be a treasure chest buried in my back yard... I just haven't found it.
Add the human breasts from a few posts up with the ripple tank and the high speed camera and you have a winner I think.
You can stir butter in the US? Ours is too solid for that.
Pity on both of them... Tobasco isn't hot, but has great flavour and horseradish is only hot for a few seconds...

...or reduce the population...
Someone has to say it...
Soylent Green is ... people!
Looking at the buildings, I suspect the gifts are a "learn to fly" instruction DVD and the keys to a 747.
Please note that the 'how to land' section has been erased.
Couldn't see the building... looked like some sponge or fungus was growing all over it...

hasn't Motorola been using mini USB for years?
Isn't there stuff down there that uses sulfur like we use carbon?
Ships are supposed to pass in the night!
They must be pretty silent though... Red October eat your heart out.?
..."if it aint broke, don't fix it."
oh, wait...
In reality, it's too large an infrastructure to just replace. To work on bit by bit (no pun intended), yes. To completely rehash, NO.
...in a world where leaders are not usually known for their dance steps.
They HATE them and will get as far as they can away from those things.
