I kind of doubt that if there is a ton of evidence that someone is downloading this stuff they would stop at using a hash; they probably use several different techniques.
I am aware that FIREWIRE is superior for chaining devices and things of that nature, but the great majority of the time people use it for a single device.
I believe the calculation is the amount of electricity potentially generated by a gallon of gasoline. It is hard to say if they also included transmission/conversion/battery charge losses.
My favorite example of this is teeth- if you compare modern human teeth to the rest of the animal world they are pretty aweful, especially without orthodontics. I figure this is due to the invention of cooked food, which allows people with all their teeth missing to survive.
You have to think in terms of throughput too. It probably take a fraction of a second to stamp a DVD, whereas with a 'serial' data transfer it can take several minutes.
Nice you have an opinion, now where is your analysis? I like having the same email after 8 years and changing 5 different isps and 4 different jobs. The spam filtering works reasonably well and I have access to old emails from the entire period. I can get to my email any time/any where. I can count on one hand the number of times the service wasn't available.
so you'd rather take a test? I never said that we interviewed people just to fish for information... what would you rather do in an interview? Personally I am always busy, so interviews are a pain in my *ss too. Why not keep it real and interesting?
