    The whole water thing is a dumb argument environmentalists dreamed up to make us feel bad about being alive. It's not like water from a stream in Minnesota is being diverted to livestock instead of irrigating poor farmers in the Sahara.

  4. The converse to that is that since the barrier to entry is so low now in most things is that you will get little or nothing trying to sell your craft unless you are very good, lucky or both.

    It's kind of like the moon landing people. They are claiming that thousands of astronauts and scientists are liars which is pretty awful but most people just laugh at them.

    I built a new system once because the old one was on a minicomputer that HP had pulled support on and they were running out of old machines to cannibalize for parts.

    Do you think that even if geothermal was viable it could be done more cheaply and with less risk than solar? A lot of people don't appreciate how easy it is to engineer a solar solution. The depreciation schedule of batteries and panels is well understood and because the complex parts are created somewhere else the chance of a cost overrun are about nil....

    Or you could pay a company that has already developed a proven an accountable system that converts solar energy into electricity to install their system.

    You would skip soil and go straight to hydroponics, although I have no idea if potatoes can be grown that way. They really aren't a good food anyway.

    A workforce fatality is the tip of the iceburg. For every fatality there are hundreds if not thousands of serious injuries that require medical attention. Speaking as a person that works in the workman's compensation industry :-)
