  1. Lots of things we do subvert evolution such as treating genetic diseases so people could live normally, social welfare, fertility treatments etc... Either we step the plate with eugenics or figure out how to fix peoples genes before we turn in to blubbering piles of meat ;-)

    Someone is clearly asleep at the switch. When I go to the mobile version of yahoo news (morning toilet reading) , there is a huge section in the middle of the page devoted to 'Odd News'. None of this content has been updated since AUGUST 2014!!! This mobile entry point should be one of the crown jewels of yahoo and yet throwing away a huge chunk of real estate due to obvious oversight....

    Sure, that is the most likely explanation. I just think people are too ready to believe that because something is on video it MUST be true.

    Article and idea too terrible to comment on. Creating a part to wear this way and maintain usable tolerances will cost way more then just a well designed part.

    It's full of spares and with current virtualization technology they will never need to do this. They have already been doing this 'pod' concept above ground for years.

  13. I don't think they will have the advantage with cars they had with i-phone. Google wasn't quite the juggernaut they are now when Android was cobbled together and both Tesla and Google seem to have a real-world head start.

    Oh so I have to screw around with a bed cover when I want to actually use the truck as a truck? Using a truck for commuting is dumb, end of story.

    Yeah because I like having groceries roll around the bed and be exposed to the elements or where someone could take them if I have to stop somewhere else.

    And they make even less sense than a consumer truck. Do you know what the specs for a typical trash truck(3mpg) are and the battery you would need to run such a platform? How would you charge 15 or 20 of these monsters at night? (if you are lucky enough for battery to last during the day) The up front costs would be astronomical.

    There are good reasons why trucks get less gas mileage than cars- weight, tire patch, aerodynamic drag. These will not change with an electric truck. Right now the Tesla is on the ragged edge with battery cost, range, charge time etc and these issues will be double on a truck.

    They are dorks, but only the rich ones will be able to afford Tesla. I have full size truck and using it around town is a nightmare- terrible gas mileage, nowhere to put groceries and hard to park.

    Tesla cars can't do this now why would it happen for a truck? It's going to be another rich toy.

    Why would it make sense? Because Elon said so? If the truck will actually be used like a truck there won't be any chargers around. If you are talking about rich dorks running around town to show off, than maybe you are right.

    And many mothers drank and smoked, and there was a complete lack of prenatal care. I should have added the footnote that this price was for a childbirth without complications... I doubt these contribute much to the infant mortality figures.
