It may be Intel bashing but it has a point. Intel has been making some big blunders this past year. AMD has capitilized on these blunders wonderfully. Intel is still the largest and most influential CPU company but they have been cut down SEVERAL notches the last year due to these blunders. AMD has gained MAJOR ground in the processor wars.
Yes they have their uses. However, I think most people will agree, when you type in some web address you want to get a webpage, not some stupidass flash animation intro.
I don't know about 1. Number 8, Real has a Sparc and Intel Linux Realplayer available. Number 21, xanim plays quicktime files fine (as long as they are not Sorenson codec quicktimes). Plugger can be used to enable external programs to be used as plugins. I think there are other similar programs out there. Search on freshmeat.
Fry's Electronics sells DVD-R for $8. I am not sure if they are the same media, as the press release lists max capacity as 4.7GB while the media Fry's sells is 3.95 GB. Here is an ad with it.

Easy, printout a receipt after you vote. Drop receipt into ballot box. Ballot box is never used unless recount is required.
As far as a security goes: Slot machines are pretty much all networked these days. I haven't heard about any hacking done on these yet. Just get the same people to work on the voting machines.
And nightly builds are (IMHO) better. Try them, if you have a broadband connection.
Just a warning; according to mozillazine the 8th and 9th nightly builds has a pretty big crasher(certain gifs cause a crash). Use a Nov 7th or 6th build till it gets resolved.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that a judge would rule that conceeding an election would forfeit the person from accepting the office should the vote turn in their favor.
Very unlikely. Remember it will take a Constitutional ammendment to abolish the electoral college. That is, 2/3 of the congress must agree that an amendment should be proposed, then 3/4 of the states must agree to it. Considering how close the election is I doubt it will happen, most likely, if Bush wins by electoral, but not popular, the Republicans will vote against an ammendment, the Democrats will vote for.
Besides, remember that the electoral college was created in part to protect us from the tyranny of the people. Considering all the morons that live in this country, I am glad it is there.
Again, the Constitution does not say that the elected person has to declare himself to be a candidate. so in theory the electors could vote you as president. If you accepted then you are the president.
The economy has been too good, which is why the fed raised interest rates. The probelm is that you have a big tax cut and you will eventually need to raise the interest rates again.
Tax cut will be good for a little while, then the evil inflation demon will start to chew on your wallet.
Yes, what about taxes? Both candidates want to reduce taxes. They say they will use the surplus to pay down the debt. They keep pointing out that we are in the most prosperous economic time ever.
So here is a plan. How about we leave it be for now. Put all this extra to pay down the debt. Once the debt is under reasonable control, THEN lower taxes. Lower taxes should really be for the lean times, when no one has any money.
Not to mention the Fed Reserve is constantly trying to cool the economy down by raising interest rates. So the candidates are trying to screw this over by lowering taxes. Good plan, too bad it could potentially drives up inflation.
The only thing people care about is getting more money. so no one thinks about this stuff.
Why are drugs not a substantive issue? We have more people in prison than just about any nation. No word from either candidate about this.
How about the two party system trap we are in. We need some kind of campaign finance reform. I am for 100% full disclosure, but not too sure how well that would work.
For those who don't know, the position of Governer here in Texas has less to do with control of the local Govt compared to position of Lt. Govn. (Rick Perry) which does all the decision making.
Hmm, I was looking at the Texas Constitution out of curiosity. You cannot be an elected official if your an atheist.
You have the Republicans who think that Clinton is the antichrist and Gore is antichrist jr., they will stop at nothing to get them out of office.
Then you have the Democrats who all think that if Bush gets elected we will not be able to get abortions anymore and have to say a prayer everytime we enter a school. Most unspeakable.
Is that caring about government? Maybe, I think these people are taking this stuff way out of proportion and ignoring all the real issues.
I saw Haeglin on Politically Incorrect a while back. He is WAY too smart to be president. The guy just amazed me, he actually knew what he was talking about (on Politically Incorrect, that is rare). It is a shame that the Reform party went wacky and voted Buchanan. They pretty much killed themselves with that move. They had such a golden opportunity with Haeglin, then they nominate that xenophobe Buchanan.
Well this doesn't really make sense. Microsoft would not need to install Linux to keep their budget in line. After all the software cost of Windows 2000 for MS is $0.
I forget exaclty, haven't really played in a while, I think it is in the 90s, maybe l00 something. I remember intermediate was 38, beginner is useless.
Needless to say I have played minesweeper way too much. Had a year of silly minesweeper rivalry in college with my friends. We eventually gave up on expert and starting doing custom games with 160 or so mines on largest board.
Yes, however isn't the problem with using extionsions is that you have to throw in hooks for each vendors specific extension? I think an argument can be made that OpenGL needs to be updated to include these advances in the base spec so that you will only have to code for one target, not 3.
1. A lack of third parties. There should be 4 or 5 candidates doing these things, not two. The reason we have a two party system is because the media perpetuates this. They do not give any third parties decent air time. Put three more candidates in at least one of the debates.
2. Virtually no mention of the economy. The stock market has been in a free fall for a bit now, yet all we heard about was the huge government surplus (which the two candidates are gleefully planning on spending) and the prosperous times we are in. Yet the stock market is falling and the Fedral Reserve is raising interest rates to slow down the economy. Some thoughtsd by the candidates on this matter would have been nice.
3. Ignoring technical issues. This is the "Information Age" as the candidates liked to point out when talking about education, yet not a single technology issue was seriously discussed other than filters. Hell at least talk about the Microsoft case, the people know about this and it will effect them directly.
4. Drug war. It is criminal to not even mention this. The US has a HUGE prison population, mostly due to the Drug War.
5. All 3 of the debates talked about the EXACT SAME ISSUES! (slight variance here and there). There are 3 debates, not 1, lets hear about different issues in each.
6. The "Town Hall" debate was a joke. The moderator (Jim Leer? I think, I forget his name) picked the questions that would be asked. How exactly is that a Town Hall meeting? The only difference from the other two debates was that some Joe Blow asked the question (9same ones as the previous two, see #5 above) instead of the moderator. Wow, how innovative.
This is a possiblity, they have been fairly vague about the features. It does mp3, web, games, possibly Tivo like recording and mostly Open Source (a couple of proprietary binaries). There is an article in the current Linux Journal about this which mentions a feature called personal TV. Might fit the Tivo requirement. Actually I think that it absolutely needs the Tivo like feature to be viable, I don't see it taking off without it. If it does have a Tivo type feature I would buy one.
If you want high Energy Density check out the Evonyxzinc-air fuel cells. They claim to have over 500 Wh/kg. They have already demonstrated an electric car, the EVictory, using a zinc-air fuel cell which traveled 217 miles on a single "charge" (a world record for fuel cell powered electric). They estimated that they would have been able to travel over 600 miles from New York to Detroit if they didn't encounter technical problems!
I am not affiliated with Evonyx in anyway, this is just some cool shit.
Actually they had a story on this on 48 Hours last Thursday (pretty cool show, showed a few different tech companies, get rich IPO stuff). fashionmall.com (their chief rival) bought them for pennies on the dollar.
Boo really screwed up, they burned through something like $200 million dollars before they even went live, then sold something like $1-$2 million in merchandise. Not a good business plan.
Actually the "Do Not Call List" must be maintained indefinitely. They are allowed to call once every 12 months as an error. More restrictions can be viewed here.
Bah. The only reason that this whole thing started out as amateur only was to keep out the lower class of peoples. Only the rich could afford to devote time to train enough to become competitive. There were MANY talented athletes who simply could not afford to spend their lives training, they do not deserve a chance to compete?
Todays system is much better. If you have talent you can get sponsorship and support to cultivate your talent. And that is how it should be. The talented should be able to compete, we should not have to make this a live or die decision for them just so we can get some sort of entertainment out of them.
If you have been watching the olympics they have occasionally shown some pretty cool stuff about third world countries bringing some athletes to the games in sports which their country has never competed in before. They did horribly, but they still competed, and they got a hell of a lot of cheers and applause for giving it their best. Under the original system these athletes would be forced to stay home since they cannot afford to compete. Screw that.
Lets take it another way. Say some poor kid is incredibly talented in science. We should let that kid go to waste in crummy inner city public schools I suppose? Or do we give him a scholarship to a university so that he can develop his talent?

Not much on their website, but check it out.
It is the adverb form of causation... uhh, well, OK I just made that up, but I think that is what the writer is trying to do.
Think AGP, now add this to the FSB, we are getting there on the bandwidth side. Also, this is probably a 266 MHz bus.
