Exactly. Those lumis-optical glasses look like just what I want. Something you can reasonably use in normal life without much disruption. (Yes I just want my FPS HUD...)
I figure they will (hopefully soon, have not seen one yet) come up with a way that lets you focus off into the distance using LCD glasses, perhaps something with lenses...
Not sure if this technology would apply to it but I've always wanted a computer with main unit, say the size of a cell phone, wired to a set of LCD glasses (preferably transparent so you could see whats going on around you while using it). Then you could navigate with voice commands, gestures and eye movements.
Though with multi-touch coming these days you could have multiple mouse icons and use eye movement and mouse movement on the same computer or instead eliminate the mouse and never have to take your hands off the keyboard to navigate (yes some of us use computers for more than porn).
Is it actually cheaper to upload all the e-mails in a burst instead of using a webmail system where only the mail the receiver wants to receive would be opened? Wouldn't work if they want to read offline I guess but the concern mentioned is bandwidth not connectivity.
Mea Culpa. I never thought I'd get beat up (yes I know this isn't a real slashdot beating but...) for mistakenly claiming an MS product was hard to use. People must really like Win 7 and I can't disagree its a pretty good platform for Windows
If I ever figure out what I was having problems with I'll mention it but for now I'll go slink away:)
I know the stomach uses acid to break down food but I believe we use bacteria to actually process the food, we are not capable to do it without the help of another organism.
So similarly the slug cannot processes the sun, water and carbon dioxide without the help of an outside source. Though this source does not reproduce itself so must constantly be replenished.
The above assumes I remember my biology correctly...
Actually the hairs I'm trying to split is the difference between energy and an energy source.
Photosynthesis is not like solar power generation that converts sunlight into a different form of energy (electricity).
Instead it uses the energy to produce an energy source (similar to coal as you point out). This energy source is then metabolized into energy. The sun's energy is used indirectly.
Still it is very cool to see an organism that isn't a plant being able to use the sun for more than just heat.
No I didn't read the article, MSNBC rarely loads properly here at work.
I believe that saying it gains energy via photosynthesis is incorrect. Photosynthesis causes a chemical reaction that converts Carbon Dioxide and Water (CO2 and H2O) into Sugar and Oxygen (C6H12O6 and O2). The sugar is then metabolized (correct term?) into energy.
Same concept as putting a new body on an old car. When the changes are only superficial its more annoying to have marketers claiming it to be something new.
However I would think (hope) that 7 does not star from the same code base as Vista or XP, I've seen the ugliness that method causes first hand...
I don't disagree with your perspective but this may not be the case. Glancing over the article does not mention a date so it may be months or a year before the actual release (probably not but possible).
Honestly for a product like this SP1 should be in development even before release to work on issues that did not make the final code freeze or found since then...
If this is true. Google will now be able to provide porn to the Chineese market (though can individuals get arrested in China for viewing it or were only the cites censored?).
The neighbor should have told them man he wouldn't turn off his wireless, then do it. If the man still complained he would have proof it had nothing to do with it. (or the other way around might work too)
Cool, the pages loaded so poorly last night I didn't do much looking around at what was available beyond trying to download the client. I need to update my computer to not auto sleep and run for a couple days unless things improve...
Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. The word "faith" can refer to a religion itself or to religion in general. As with "trust", faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief "not resting on logical proof or material evidence." Informal usage of the word "faith" can be quite broad, and may be used in place of "trust" or "belief."
To me confidence is knowing you can do something where as faith is believing you can do something. Rather fine line I admit but...
Sorry, forgot the line breaks. Work needs to stop mandating IE6 so I can see my previews;p

Not sure all that will happen without an Act of God...
And you will stop trying to apply them to us because we wrote them!

Just my $0.02
Cool read, thanks!

Any mail experts comment?

Isn't that similar to normal digestion in a way?

Hmm, given the speed of the network here that might just work :)

Wait, they would nuke the US because they can't google something? RUN!

Such as setting up wireless networks that are not currently active? I don't always want to set up the network when I'm able to access it.
(I'm at work on win xp right now so I could be remembering the problem I had incorrectly)
Truely, no response can properly address this. Heh.
Yes, Yes I meant sab dangit!
Ever wish you could stop your finger as you read the typo and the mouse click on submit is already occurring?
(Kids don't work and slasdot)
We must now hunt him down and sab him in the face.

Faith is key to being a nerd. I have faith I'm going to pass my next exams. I don't know but I have faith in myself.
Lots of inventors have faith that they can do something that no one has seen before (ex the Wright brothers).
Its worth points so long as you show up or something. I can understand faith but religion is strange sometimes.
