People who pre-ordered can get in on the open beta, not sure if they can share the key or something...
I'm willing to give them $50 to try it out, we'll see a month later:)
That makes sense, turbines are like large flywheels so the larger they are the more efficient. Wonder what hooking a small turbine up to a flywheel would do... probably not much.
A heck of a lot more dead junk than that. The military budget is about 40x the budget of NASA accordign to one site. So there would be 2000% more dead junk, hopefully 2000% more live junk too:)
It looks like the highest effiency for a gas turbine generator is 60%.
One wiki link said piston driven engines can peak up to 70% efficiency (might not work for steady power?) another one states the peak efficiency is 37%.
While I accept the higher precision is necessary there are a lot of inexpensive turbines out there for use in RC aircraft as well as designs using turbo chargers. I cannot say if these have sufficient power but while they would cost more up front the maintenance should be lower as there is no impact in a turbine (assuming proper materials are used).
Between getting laid off then working a contract plus overtime with no benefits (most importaintly health insurance) and taking two code project heavy graduate classes my sanity has been on edge lately.
There is a lot of stress when you are competing to work towards the top levels of your fiel as you have to work very hard or be very smart to be noticed among a large group of very smart people.
I've read that there is less stress when you are just working what ever odd jobs come your way instead of pushing to be at a higher level. Is this true or are these articles (and as a result now me) talking out of their a$$.
(I am probably middle or upper middle class)
Must never get ice there (yeah, Swiss Alps I know, what about lower terrain?) because there are a lot of situations even at 30 KM/H (a poster below stated this was an 80 KM/H zone though) where a heavier car (yes some people transport more than 100 kilos in their cars so they need work trucks) can take quite a distance to stop. Is it just the simple matter that there are few vehicles of any kind so most people can walk everywhere?
What I'm curious about is why you never see turbine-electric vechiles. Turbines don't make good engines for normal cars as they are most efficient at specific speeds but this is not a downfall for charging a battery.
What seems like it has potential is to setup a turbine using the shiftless transmission so the turbine never changes speeds. Then use an electric to accelerate and put it in generator mode to decelerate. This allows the turbine to produce the power to maintain speed and the electric motor to change speed. I'm not that kind of engineer but it seems like that might work...
There was nothing wrong with geocities as a hosting tool given you could still make a normal webpage if you took the time. However if someone gave me a link to a geocities resume now that geocities is gone... I'd be tempted to slap them up side the head.
I've been working for five years on the development end and I'm the type to have the internet open the whole day (one hour into the work day right now) yet both employers I've worked for have stated I'm producing results above my paygrade. This tells me that I'm probably not doing it wrong and there are people like me who work in bursts.
However I have worked with contractors who work 80 hours a week and produce nothing so I agree there are two sides to the story...
Nope my job is to produce the largest quantity of high quality code I can every day (software developer). The company should keep their nose out of how I do this as long as it is legal and moral (definition of moral being rather morphable unfortunately).
If I produce more code by browsing the internet in one corner of my display so I don't brain fizz an hour after I start then they shouldn't block my internet browsing ability. I agree blocking games is probably a good idea but I find myself stairing off into space too much if I'm trying to work every minute, if I browse the internet I can push myself harder and faster for a higher percentage of each hour.
Agreed, I can read the Kindle as easily as a real book but LCD displays bother me after a while if I'm just reading even though I work with them daily.
Except they probably can't really tell if the problem with a player is due to the servers or client side lag. As a result a player could jump in system with an empty ship and cause their network to lag in order to cause an opponent ship to be disabled.
Also Eve doesn't really have sides and traitors are common. How does one tell if a ship is an opponent, a spy or neutral?
Yes I went to see Avatar and don't regret it. The reason is because its one of the few movies (probably should have gone to see Star Trek too...) that can provide a better experience at the theater rather than just paying two bucks to rent it...
I agree with that perspective. The entirety of Pandora seems like a geneticly engineered planet. Perhaps the inhabitants decided they didn't care for technology and the smurfs are their distant discendants who have completely forgotten about technology...
Agreed, the problem with many comments is they try to explain how or even what instead of why. Explaining how or particularly what often just duplicates what the code explains to a skilled programmer (this works as long as the code isn't too obscure).

Thanks for the info
I glanced through the article but didn't see if they are planning on fixing the hardware or the software (or both).
I wonder if bad hardware or bad software leads to the greatest inefficiencies?

I get mixed data depending on what I read.

Just my minimally educated $0.02

Can I please mod this up past +5?
Um yeah...

I'd more expect Madden 1/10 through 12/10 over the next twelve months rather than less than once a year releases...

Actually they have an office in Atlanta too. Unfortunately my wife doesn't want to move there...

Um, so why didn't they just mine the mountains as to be floating like that those mountains must be super rich in that stuff I'm not going to name

Do magnetic fields get bent?
Yes but how much impact did that previous Vice President have on the country beyond shooting someone in the face while Quail hunting?
(partly joking)
