The following companies confirmed they were questioned but have been relieved of the Justice Department investigation:
IBM
Microsoft
Yahoo
Genentech
The agency has decided not to pursue charges against companies that had what it believes were legitimate reasons for agreeing not to poach each other's employees, said people familiar with the matter. Instead, it's focusing on cases in which it believes the non-solicit agreement extended well beyond the scope of any collaboration.
The FAs may be useless until the shit hits the fan, and then there aren't enough of them. They aren't there to serve drinks; they are there to keep the passengers in line.
Sounds like they are pseudo-security personnel at this point and that seems ludicrous when you can have real security personnel.
I'm not saying get rid of all of the FAs but you are making the point for me. We don't need drinks we need safe, secure and reasonably priced travel.
Nothing against flight attendants but do we really need more than one? Stop serving drinks and get us from point A to point B safely. That's all we care about.
As originally posted on Search Engine Land, These allegations are merely exploratory and it is difficult to determine exactly where the GA's office is headed in this investigation, or how Texas could claim jurisdiction. All the lawsuits in question are being raised by non-Texas corporations and against a California-based company.
Yesterday, Google responded to the investigation, which has not been made public yet by the General Attorney's office. In it's response, Google states that they "listen carefully to people's concerns" and " we strongly believe our business practices reflect our commitment to build great products for the benefit of users everywhere". To some extent this sounds like the usual play from Google, invoking it's "do no evil" mantra.
Does Google manipulate results to thwart competitors and advance its own businesses? Some competitors to Google are concerned that the company lowers search results listings for certain firms and/or charging higher fees ads they place vs those of Google's partners.
Google has never revealed its search or ranking methodology for sites in detail, though it has published some papers on optimization and best practices.
Google's reply on a Friday night after business hours on the biggest 3-day summer weekend of the year is sure to draw little attention.
Scary part? When first posted this article quoted the new book as "Winnie The Chew" - talk about lack of research! Nevermind the second spelling error that we get to look at now.
No need to edit my comments mod - the title once again is Wookiee the chew not Wookie the chew. You must spell Wookiee correctly I have no idea why you keep misposting htis article but don't blame me then mark me redundant and edit my post.
We should all be happy that we're being tracked and monitored and body scanned and probed and the government doesn't even need a warrant for anything anymore and my rights are on hold for the next 20 years and we attacked Iraq and murdered its leader and Afghanistan is the new war on terror, and my mother makes awesome apple pies and we all live in a great country you can tell (please don't burn the flags), and we all like the same things including guns and there's a revolution coming, and you need to be a maverick and unseat popular Alaskans and corporations can now donate to politicians yes of course that makes sense and for heaven's sake it's all in the name of Free Things so be proud!
American life so Unbelievably Spectacular Awesome. Those other countries have no idea what freedom is!

"Programming requires long nights staring blankly at mind-muddling objective languages."
Actually, no, it doesn't. I have never done this and never will.
To each his own. More importantly, if you are being directed properly by experienced management then you see the meaning of the statement. The purpose is meant to divert overly enthusiastic but misdirected individuals from spending countless hours whiddling away at unimportant tasks which due to their lack of experience might put them at risk of staring blankly - nights or days is irrelevant.
Anyone in the field who hasn't figured this out yet needs to be let go. Programming requires long nights staring blankly at mind-muddling objective languages. Experienced directors/designers have the foresight to be able to properly direct all that youthful energy to the most worthwhile pursuits, rather than just letting them wander aimlessly through some other other geek's code.
Apparently this is regarding a book published in 2002 which talks about the 1997 edition of Star Wars vs a 1991 Star Trek - comparing the way an explosion appeared on screen. Which portion of this 8 year old book about a 20 year old movie is news?

This is just intelligent load-balancing. Cast it from thy sievelike books of memory, Sir Donald; thou art out of thy element.

The actual book title is Wookie The Chew as evidenced in this photo and this article.

I removed the One ring, why does Sauron still taunt me?

In Russia this type of propaganda is as acceptable as Americans whole believe Obama is not a US citizen.
