I really don't think about KDE too much since I do what I want to comfortably with Gnome, but KDE helped me ease into Linux when I was a newbie. Gnome had just come out and it was still awkward. KDE was ready, and while not overly comfy, let me get comfortable enough so that I didn't have to boot into an MS OS to do everything.
I loved playing Postal back when I ran Windows (we all make mistakes). Is the game worth $40 to me? Nope. If this comes out at a reasonable price I will buy it. If it comes out overpriced (Postal has been out for quite a while) I won't be getting it. I'll stick to free games (Maelstrom, Circus Linux) for my limited gaming time.
I want Loki to succeed, but I don't want to pay absurd prices for them to succeed.
Maybe I have been taking too much acid in the last couple of days (Wow, look! A rainbow Tux!), but I think this is part of Microsoft's plan.
If it takes 2 MS machines to replace every Apache machine MS will be sitting pretty. All they need is a few pointy haired bosses who are naive enough to spend more money for more machines. Then they can say they have the most marketshare. Combined with some FUD this makes a great way gain new clients. Eventually Apache will dwindle, and the corporate world will shun you unless you use MS.
In its original form, Lyrics.ch caused me to buy more music than I ever had before. Not even Napster gets me that motivated to go out and buy CD's (although the RIAA makes it very hard to get motivated about being overcharged, but I digress). It was very easy for me to search for a song from over 15 years ago and find out what it was. With that knowledge I would look for the best priced CD containing that song.
After Lyrics.ch got raided it had no use. For a long time there were no lyrics up. When they did get lyrics back the site was rendered sterile. There were so few lyrics you had a better chance using Yahoo! or Altavista (no Google back then) to find the lyrics.
When Songfile took over it was no better. Many lyrics are up, but I don't want to liscence a song just to know if it is the one I am thinking of.
Is it just me, or does the RIAA make you feel like you're being shat upon? Almost any other industry would be enthused people used your service for such things.
I agree with you, but you also have to put enemies into this equation. If you go around being a bully you are going to have more enemies than if you were freindly. Why do you think the US and not a European country was attacked?

RedHat has more to Gnome than KDE, so I can understand (sort of) why they are not devoting all of their time to KDE. If you like KDE, great. Get Mandrake or something. If RedHat is stupid people will not use their distro. Pretty simple, eh?
I would greatly be interested in learning C++ through sex. Since sex is better than violence, and C++ is tougher to use than Java, I think it will all balance out.
Dizny is big enough they don't have to care about a boycott. A few years back the Baptists (I think it was them) boycotted Dizny, but it didn't make a bit of difference. Dizny didn't change a thing.
No, the reason I think installing Windoes is easier at this point has nothing to do with fdisk. It is easier because there is no way to configure it. Windows doesn't worry about anything but it's own data. Since Linux is the underdog and often installed on dual-boot machines this makes it appear more difficult to intstall due to the partitioning step (which only dual booters really need to do).
I honestly do think Linux is easier to install except for one thing: the partitioning. Mind you this is not a fault of Linux. People just want to keep their old Win install around. If Linux gave no choice like MS (don't care what is on the drive, just use it) the Linux install would be smooth for everybody who doesn't have a shoddy ISO burn.
Yes. I agree fully. That is why SBC should also cut all the BSD and Linux groups since 99% of the customers don't use the news servers, and of those actually using it only 1% look at those sites. Hey, come to think of it only 5% of the customers need FTP and only 2% use IRC....
Is this for Southwest Bell, or Pacific Bell, or both? As of today I'm still getting all the binary mp3 groups. I see no signs of filtering. If any filtering is going on I am not aware of it (although I do not get prodigynet.help.tech.newsgroups).
I would like to use FTP instead of news for binary transfers, but the group I frequent is image based with discussion. The only thing I can think of that could replace that would be a hotline server.
Second, that Microsoft thinks they can somehow keep it safe.
They probably know they can't. When info gets stolen I can see MS doing a lot of spinstering. MS is horrible at security, but much better and deceiving and covering their asses.
Nothing would make MS happier than another reason to go after those awful hackers for coming in when the door was open.
Back in high school one of the home economics classes had people carry around flour or sugar "babies" (I think both were used). During that whole time I wanted nothing more than to find a forgotten sugar baby and dump sulfuric acid on it before returning it to the home econ department. I believe they would have considered the baby dead and failed whoever lost it.
Don't forget that hats often grow teeth and legs. These "RedHat's" will one day rise up and storm the Gates compund; attempting to bite Bill, his wife, and his kids.
Yes, Internet Explorer. Now there is something truly bug-free...
MS PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION
In an effort to protect the right to innovate, Microsoft is warning its customers not to use the web browser known as "Mozilla." Microsoft believes this piece of software is written by rogue hackers who plan to usurp the Internet. One of these rogue hackers, going by the handle "asa", admits that 150 new bugs are found in the "Mozilla" web browser every day.
Microsoft is proud to provide users with a fast, high-quality, lean, bugfree browser: Internet Explorer. In the entire existence of our quality product, not a single bug has ever been reported.
C'mon. Everybody knows real programmers use NANO, and they use it for writing operating systems in hex.

Thanks KDE. Happy Birthday.

Nothing like making a PDA for the professional consumer market who like to compute _in_ the swimming pool. Way to go Psion.

Nice troll *rolls eyes*. You get sick of K5 or something?

Hmmm. That's right. I didn't even think of the Violence, it was so much a part of the game.
If you find an older version it would run well on old hardware too.

They probably thought none was needed. No *nix user would be dumb enough to buy a CD from this Pride twit.

What are you smoking? I'd really like to get my hands on some of it!
O, of course I am misguided. I am using Mozilla, which as we all know "isn't really a product for actual use by people."
Let's also not forget that IE has such a small footprint from being loaded with the OS...
